Why Jehovah's Witnesses Are Discouraged From Using the Internet
by AllTimeJeff inat a recent series of circuit assemblies, the governing body put out warnings on what in their view is the latest danger from satan, designed to break the faith of jehovah's witnesses everywhere.. facebook.. yes, thats right, apparantly, the gb is concerned because a lot of people are having "facebook sex".
they are meeting old friends who aren't jehovah's witnesses and getting it on with whomever would willingly sleep with them.
evidentally, the gb would like their flock to believe that when jw's get on facebook and other social networking sites, fornication happens.. now, this is news.

Good point Flipper. For all of the rhetoric about JW's having "the truth", the truth of the matter is that the GB knows very well if a person knew all the history, and all the doctrine, few except fringe people of questionable stability would ever join them.
They are not only not mainstream, they are weird little liars. And its all documented now. On the internet. Bummer for them.

Isn't it JW policy that masturbating while chatting online constitutes "fornication" for purposes of judicial action?
Yes it can if it was a chat of a sexual nature, although if I recall, there was some dispute with some elders of whether or not it should be "loose conduct."
Either way, its a disfellowshipping offense.

OMG i did not just have a two hour WT fight with my wife again!!!!
by oompa indamm this snow!!
!....i mean i am separated and all but this is the second snow where i wind up back home for the night (mostly non-sexual)...i mean separation does give you time for second thoughts but damm!!!!
!.....we had a contract practically to never do this again...but she looked at me and said "so what are we going to do...what is going to happen with us".....so i went with it....and omg it was like a nightmare of every wt jw argument rolled into one!!!!!

Oompa, I can tell you still love her, and that is in spite of the seperation. It is heartbreaking to realize that a cult religion means more then you do, esp when you still care.
Every time I saw my ex after I left everything it would upset me horribly. Sorry about the bad time.

Why Do I Not Care Anymore? Possibly a Rhetorical Question
by cantleave inthere was a time, not so very long ago, when a purpose in life was so important to me.
it mattered to me what i believed as to how we came here.
it mattered to me what happens after death.

I understand. The best thing I can say is, you're right. Don't force it. Think of other things.

on the fence
by In inboy i gotta say, i just can't make up my damned mind.
everytime i'm starting to feel better about the jw's, a brother or sister or the watchtower will say something just totally wacky.
did anyone get that bit in the watchtower last week about no questions allowed what so ever!!

Hey In. Go at your own pace. It is a process, and it sounds like you have a lot that you don't want to throw away. Keep your mind open and your education going! I wish you the best.

For non theists: Stages of evolution, can we develop wings?
by cyberjesus inif the evolution of life is defined by adapting to a need and life develops as it is needed.
what if decide to live in trees and jumping from them everytime.
does it mean that we could eventually develop wings?
-
AllTimeJeff
ATJ: I mean, evolution has happened naturally without conscious thought. We didnt need to know or understand it and we got now where we are. But now we understand that it happens due to adaptation. So in a way we could put ourselves in an environment where we can control evolution to whatever we want to.
Thats an interesting theory. I am positive that there isn't enough data to do more then speculate wildly on that question
(i personally would like to surgically modify womans vaginas and make them deeper and wider, maybe then evolution will take of the rest)
LOL! Wouldn't you rather take an herbal remedy from a whistling libido provider?

Do Most Pedophiles Use Religion as Their Cover?
by cameo-d inas children, we were always taught not to accept candy from strangers and not to ride with strangers.
however, it seems that the danger most always comes, not from a stranger, but from someone the child knows.. one day we headed to the school bus stop knowing we were 'almost' late.
we waited and waited.

I think it behooves all religions to pay attention to how their insular structure can be manipulated by predators where children are concerned.
I see no issue whatsoever for a requirement of a criminal background check for any religion's leaders that would have access to children alone.
Regardless of where one stands on the theist/atheist debate, we know that religion isn't going away. It would be good for all religions to not be naive to the fact that religions offer unique opportunities to exploit children, and do their best to protect them.
As to most pedophiles using religion? Many do. Most though? I am not sure.
