Above all, Witnesses should come to their senses and know the difference between a Watchtower Apostate and a Christian Apostate.

Finally bought Crisis of Conscience today...
by deaconbluez into be honest, the first chapter is awful, horribly written, and feels almost like the author feels he has to justify himself with the book.. now, that being said, the chapters on legalism and double standards, 1975, "this generation", and so forth are brilliant, powerful, and should be read by every one of jehovah's witnesses.. just my thoughts..

Its a shame, though. While it would do every Bible-loving Witness some good to read this book, they would automatically discount the author as a dirty, lying, pot-smoking, hooker-banging, drive-by shooting apostate.
YET, prior to 1981, any Witness on earth would have given their life, entrusted their life to the author. They would have welcomed him into their home and would have accepted ANYTHING that he taught them from the platform.
The solitary "act" that transfers him from angelic to hell-bound was simply questioning things that his conscience was bothered about. Priceless.

Glad to hear you have the book. You might also want to read "In Search of Christian Freedom" by R. Franz.
Is that a newer writing?

Ok. Glad it wasn't just me, then.
I think one of the best points I've come across in the book so far is how he talks about members of the Governing Body that were unsure about 1914, proposed a change in the organization's thinking on the matter, but were denied, and THEN expecting every other member of the organization on down to the common publisher to embrace, put faith in, and tell others about the 1914 teaching. How screwed up is that? The very men that were perpetuating the teaching didn't fully believe in it!!!
And what the author says about being "victims of victims" is very powerful and true. Look forward to reading the rest of it.

A df''d jw was in today and very depressed
by hambeak ina new customer was in the shop today, he saw the insight books on a table and we got to talking.
he told me he was disfellowshipped and he is totally depressed.
i talked to him and directed him to this board and maybe read the coc book and he then became quite visibly nervous about apostates and apostate literature even being around one.

No I understand the site and all. And they have caused me more grief and problems for me than you can imagine. But that doesn't mean the polar opposite course that "apostates" cling to is right.

Our Witness daughter is not allowed to talk to us.
by Dogpatch infrom mercury online in the u.k.. our witness daughter is not allowed to talk to us.. they were once devoted believers-but a husband and wife say their faith has been tested and their family torn apart after they were thrown out of the jehovah`s witnesses.
members of the bradwell congregation- including their only child, a daughter- are now forbidden from speaking to david and brenda gibbons since they were forced to leave.
they were thrown out by a judicial committee at great yarmouth kingdom hall in july, after writing a letter containing personal criticism to another member of the congregation.

It's all about that control. When you can control every detail of every member's life, then they will always come back to eat out of your hand.

Charles T. Russell's Conversion?
by freddi inhi all!
i know that this is unlikely but has anyone ever heard that russell converted to christianity before he died?
-
deaconbluez
james_woods,
Because Jehovah's Witnesses are everything Russell was against. The absolute power among the GB and the elders, their equating legalism with a close relationship with God, their caste system. Russell wouldn't go anywhere near that if he were alive today.

Oh geez.
Russell was Christian. He wasn't one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He didn't start or "revive" the Jehovah's Witness movement. If he were a "witness" today, he would be disfellowshipped. But that doesn't matter because if he were alive today, he wouldn't be going to any Kingdom Hall.
