At a young age my mother tried to discourage me from making fun of people.
Am I supposed to feel guilty for poking fun at OBVES? He's not for real. I sincerely think he is a master of parody.

cleveland (ap) -- a gunman opened fire in a downtown high school on wednesday, and five people were taken to a hospital, the mayor said.. mayor frank jackson said three young people and two adults were hurt.
successtech academy had been secured and there was only one suspect, he said.. "they have the shooter," jackson said.
he did not elaborate.. ronnell jackson, 15, said he saw the shooter running down a school hallway.. "he was about to shoot me but i got out just in time," he said.. another student, doneisha levert, said she heard the principal say "code blue" over the public address system, and the students started running.
I know many don't agree with me on this, but: ALL GUNS NEED TO BE BANNED AND DESTROYED. ALL OF THEM!
When it comes to guns, we don't have the intellectual or moral ability to exercise our "rights" as humans. Sorry.
after i wrote my parents a 10-page letter going into detail about all of the problems with the watchtower, along with documented evidence of false prophecies/predictions, flip-flops in doctrine, as well as many good reasoning points, she put up some very strong defenses over the phone.
at first she said that she read the letter.
then when we got on a topic that was covered in the letter, and i could see that she didn't comprehend the point that i was making, i would ask her, "are you sure you read the letter?

At first she said that she read the letter. Then when we got on a topic that was covered in the letter, and I could see that she didn't comprehend the point that I was making, I would ask her, "Are you sure you read the letter?" and she then said, "Well, I read the first page of it and got kinda upset, so I stopped reading." She even got nasty at one point. Here's her main take on it:
She claims that I would LOVE to find something that proves the Watchtower to be false...because then that would allow me to live whatever lifestyle that I choose. The thing is, I don't live a questionable lifestyle. I life an upstanding Christian life. I help those in need when I can. I don't drink, smoke, swear. I read the Bible daily and strive to live my life by it's principles. In fact, if I were an active Witness right now, with my current lifestyle, I would be considered exemplary and in "good standing".
Can anybody please offer their input on her reaction? What does it mean? What is going on in her brain? What is a way to counter this treatment with in a spirit of love?
you could have stupid new light every week published and the vast majority aren't going anywhere.
you could see proof of contradiction after contradiction right in front of your nose, if you're a witness.
and you still won't budge.. the reason: mental and spiritual laziness.
Tell me about it! My parents are proof of this. I wrote them a 10 page letter detailing everything from the 607 issue to false prophecies/predictions, and everything else, then when I talked to my mom on the phone, she said, "Well, I read the first page of it but that was about it." There's no desire on thier part to get to the bottom of anything. Through clever word associations and mind-manipulation, the Watchtower has them convinced, all the way into their subconscience, that they are "the truth" and above everything in this world. The Watchtower is a Super-Villian.
i have been approved to write the cover story for local newspaper about jehovah's witnesses.
it can't be any more than 2,500 words.
this newspaper has a huge reader-base.
Thanks a bunch you guys! Yes, I will definately post a scan of the finished product. You guys have given me a lot to think about. My inclination was to focus on the Watchtower's record as a false prophet. I agree that focusing on that might make the reader less inclined to continue reading, especially if it gets into interpretation and such.
UN is a non-issue in my opinion. Pedophiles...that could get nasty, and I don't of a way to back something like this up with a source: "Jehovah's Witnesses are urged to not report pedophiles to the police. Yet, when they report them to their congregation elders, they are told that there has to be 2 or more witnesses to the incident. At this point, if the Witness goes to the authorities, they will be disfellowshipped for doing so." From what I have gathered, all of that is true. But it is hard to show confirmation through sources and such.
Again thank you for the suggestions, and you guys will be pleased to see them in use with the finished product.
