I just hope nobody thought I was advocating debt. My comment was about the convenience of not having to draw banknotes all the time.
I guess then debit cards are the way to go. I think they're a bit safer from scammers.

Just watch your various balances online every few days and you'll be fine.

I always thought sinning against the holy spirit (as JWs see it) was if you not only became apostate, but additionally "turned against" your 'brothers' and picketed, or published material against the WBTS etc. Like Raymond Franz for instance.

One of my core beliefs is that religion has served its purpose, and that society going forward has no need for its controlling and divisive presence.
Having said that, on a day like Christmas Day, I'm feeling that I wish I had at least some options. That I could maybe pop into some church somewhere for old-times sake. Sing a carol, what the hell.
I don't just think about this on Christmas Day, but today it's a bit more of a relevent question.

Willy hears Wilma and Brother Boring bantering near the front door, but he's not really listening. He stumbles over to the fireplace, sits down a bit too firmly on his lay-z-boy reclining chair right in front of it, and watches the receding flames, mesmerised.
He looks around for something to stoke the fire with on this icy cold Christmas Eve. He reaches for the bottle of Jim Beam, splashes some onto the fading fire, and watches the brief flash of new light before the fire starts to fade even more quickly.
His dark-blue and light-blue striped bathrobe is barely keeping him warm, a bit like Wilma these days actually, he thinks. "My cold fish of a wife."
"This isn't right!" Willy exclaims under his breath. He reaches over to the bound volumes on the coffee table and starts to tear out a few pages at a time, crunching them in his hands before throwing them as kindling onto the quickly dying fire.
He rips the pages, faster and faster, as the light gets brighter. Soon Awake Volumes 1974 thru to 1985 are in flames, and he slowly starts to feel warmer as the flames begin leaping again.
Wilma turns to wach the fire dancing brightly now, looks back to Brother Boring, and says, "You know what? Come inside, Brother. It's cold outside."

Yes also a first time caller here.
For me two things marked the year 2007.
Firstly, Madeleine McCann "went missing", which is not a globally important event in itself. But instead of searching for her or grieving, her parents mounted an all-out profiteering media campaign, a truly bizarre exercise in parenthood.
I think the main thing this taught us is that thousands of little kids go missing every year all over the world, but the higher the media noise the "more important" these kids are.
Oh, and the parents would burn in hell if there were a hell, but there's not, so they'll just have to live with what they've done for the rest of their natural lives.
Secondly, George Bush continued to send kids into Iraq, to fight a war that is not only illegitimate, but also hugely damaging to the families of the boy soldiers AND the families, normal families, in the country of Iraq.
These families have no lesser right than your family to be happy, to exist, to go about their daily family lives uninterrupted by Mr Bush and his backers.
Oh, and George W Bush would burn in hell if there were a hell, but there's not, so he'll just have to live with what he's done for the rest of his natural life.
