That evening, Wilma and Willie are sitting at their dining room table talking about the events of the day.
Wilma is wearing her pink dressing gown and Willie is wearing his blue cotton pyjamas.
(narrator: wilma and willy are out in the field service four days before christmas) .
willy says: well," because of all these christmas lights on these houses if armageddon came now it would be easy for gods destroyers to find the unworthy ones who will be eaten at the great evening meal of god.
wilma says: oh", yes willy and just think of all the nice houses we can choose from to inhabit once those who opposes the society are killed off, just thinking about the possibility of having my pick of all these nice homes makes me more anxious for the battle to come.. .

I went to my high school prom with another JW as my partner.
At that stage attending the prom was a "conscience issue".
At that stage also, my parents were liberal enough as JWs to have supported me going with whoever I wanted, a JW or a "worldly friend". I chose the Witness.
A few weeks later at the circus assembly, the mother of the JW who went as my partner was interviewed on the platform, and she spoke about how devastated she was that her teenager went to a prom. Applause from the audience.
My mother sat watching this, completely and unnecessarily humiliated and embarrassed.
i go to this pub (sort of like a cheers tv kinda pub) and since we can't smoke in there we have to step outside.
last tuesday (on a meeting night) an elder all dressed up walks past me on the same side walk.
he glances at me so i gave a nod gester.
Froggy, although the fear that we live in just leading our lives now is bad enough, I found this the most thought-provoking part of your post:
Damn, I wanted that call just so I can be DF'd...lol I think I'm "in" for life unless I take the action....heehee.
I executed a highly succesful fade, a masterpiece if I say so myself. And yet I've never considered that technically I may still be "in".
Obviously I don't want to cause problems for my family by DAing or being DFed after all these years, but at the same time, your comment has caused me to wonder about whether I tacitly supported the WTBTS by fading rather than sending a letter.
But then, thinking about it some more, you're only "in" if you're a publisher, right? According to the published stats on membership.
Thinking even more though, if that is true then why do they think they have the right to DF non-publishers? Shouldn't they morally only have the right to DF, if anyone, current meeting attenders who are "defiling the congregation"?
So there are actually two definitions of Jehovah's Witnesses, depending on what they are trying to achieve. Past twelve-month (or whatever it is now) door-knockers, or the Ever-Baptized, two totally differently sized groups.
And why don't they ever publish statistics on the Ever-Baptized, less the DAed and DFed, and try to claim that these are the true numbers? Damn, that would make me a current JW!
Thanks for making me think.
my vote for the worst watchtower term is:.
circumcision of the heart!.
i can't believe that there are people who can not only say "circumcision of the heart" with a straight face in front of the congregation, but defend its 'meaning'.. other runners up in my opinion:.
Bible study with interested ones, yeah sure ha ha. At least the congregation book study is a more accurate term. And that book aint the Bible.
Stumbling. What an abused term that is. Even some innocent thing that the Bible doesn't even speak about you should avoid doing to avoid stumbling other weak ones.
That reminds me of weak in the truth. Cult-speak supreme, completely code for not attending enough meetings or doing enough service. Imagine using that expression with any other English-speaker? It doesn't even make linguistic sense, weak in the truth.
And then, my favourite, the [Name some protagonist in a difficult prophecy] Class. And the class referred to is usually either the heavenly class, the earthly class or apostates. What a cop-out, talk about twisting the scriptures to make them fit the doctrine.
Oh, doctrine, another JW dirty word. Only the churches of Christendom have doctrines, not JWs because we have the truth, not doctrines.
And apostates. This is also a fairly neutral word in English for "one who has abandoned one's religious faith, a political party, one's principles, or a cause", but it has been so heavily loaded in Witness-speak that it has taken on a whole new dimension of evil that doesn't exist in standard usage of the word.
Finally, seeing I've mentioned it, Christendom. Even now, confess up if you still have negative connotations in your mind about Christendom, no matter how many years you've been out?
Yet in English it simply means the entire realm of Christianity, like the words Judaism or Islam. If the JW organization claims to be Christian then linguistically it is part of Christendom in the bigger picture. But quite sneakily JWs have been taught to equate this simple noun with evil.
Actually, stop me about all this cult-speak, because I could keep on going now!

we were talking to my yoga instructor (who is kind of a yoga nazi) about another studio in the area.
she had recommended them in the past.
tonight she said their instructors were really good but that one of them was "so gay" she couldn't handle taking his class.
Because it's based on Eastern philosophy and spirituality.
And remember how "philosophy" is a dirty word? And non-dub spirituality is from Satan?
For those who are particularly interested in this case, as I am, there is an excellent forum at www.websleuths.com.
Click on All Forums, then go down the the forum called Madeleine McCann. Start off by reading the thread called Theories.
A lot of amateur observers have been closely watching the case and have some very interesting theories, well supported with many media links.
The concensus at this stage on that thread tends to be that Madeleine was accidently killed by either her mother or her father, something to do with either a sedative overdose or parental anger gone wrong. Then at least one of the Tapas 9, probably Richard O'Brien, was involved in the cover-up that night and in the following days.

Gathering instead of party.
The new order - a bit Orwellian, I always thought. The new system.
Heart condition. Love that one.
But what I really don't like is the cult-spin put on ordinary words. Like worldly - the literal translastion in Witness-speak is "not a Jehovah's Witness", whereas inthe English language it means:
Worldly
adj., -li·er , -li·est .
In English, worldly is not a negative word, it is neutral to positive. But in Witness-speak your dear old innocent spinster librarian aunt is "worldly", while an elder "experienced in human affairs and sophisticated" may not be described as "worldly"!
Abuse of language like this is part of mind-control.
do you find that most of the ones you grew up with left?
i looked around while still active and saw numbers dwindling from my generation.
i pioneered while in late teens/early twenties and several from my class that were friends of mine left years ago.
Unfortunately it's difficult to tell, because of the "I still believe it's The Truth but..." contingent.
So many of my team are out, either totally out like me, or sort-of out like non-practising, maybe three-quarters or so, but most don't speak up about it.
I pray, no I don't but if I prayed I would pray, that they would acknowledge what a load of nonsense it all is.
so today i was thinking... and i haven't posted here in quite some time!
i came and started reading through some recent posts... and boy have i missed a lot.
the whole trevorgate thing... and danny haszard... whew.
So what's public opinion on the girlfriend?
She's so cute. I think maybe German or Scandinavian, a friendly exchange student?
