For children, including teenagers, just raising them with stressing "principles" (honesty, joy, unconditional love, morals, ethics, education, fairness, no prejudice, etc) is a lot. Children don't need the push of doctrines, more needed is the "fruitage of the spirit" things. Arguments about the trinity or not of God is like trying to put the Creator thru a telescope or microscope. Children need more just guidance getting through their day to day stuff and to enjoy their youth as much as possible in posititive spirit. I have raised 5 kids and now a proud grandma.

What generation witness are you?
by Bonnie_Clyde ini'm a 4th generation witness.
however, i have jw cousins with grown grandchildren (that makes 6 generations), and two of them are married--all in the "truth.
" if they have kids, they will be 7th generation.

I was second generation but my 5 children would have been 4th but fortunately they are all free. Their 2 cousins are 4th generation and have children bringing in a 5th generation.

Local Newspaper Printing Molestation Letter Written by AKA Jeff
by flipper inhello folks.
as you might have been aware, about a month ago after the catholic abuse settlements were made public aka jeff composed a great letter to the editor example to send to our newspapers if we wanted to use it.
i was so impressed by his letter decrying the witnesses hypocrisy in condemning the catholics but not admitting their own fault, that i submitted it to a local newspaper in a county near sacramento , california which has a good amount of readers from lake tahoe to sacramento.

Latest Watchtower Changes
by Serg inthe following are some changes the wts plans to initiate starting 2008. in hearing about this i asked my wife why she thought they were doing these sudden and subtle changes, she had no answer and seemed clueless.
she still fully believes in the borg as opposed to me.
you can more than likely imagine why they are implimenting these changes.. 1. starting jan2008 there will be one watchtower mag.

The public talk just a 1/2 hr? It would be odd to go to a program just a 1/2 hr. (would be funny to see people leave after that). :) after all that effort. Of course, the emphasis, will be for the WT study, to get the real WT indoctrination. Would be interesting for an explanation from a JW as to why the public talk now will only be a 1/2 hr.

JWs and the fear of death
by greendawn inthere was a recent thread on whether the wts attracts emotionally disturbed individuals which is unlikely to be the case since so many jws do not fit that description.
later i thought perhaps the wts appeals to people that deep inside have a fear of death which is scientifically called thanatophobia (from the greek word thanatos which means death) an excessive and abnormal fear of death.
what do you think, many jws find it very difficult to come to terms with the inevitability of their (and everyone else's) death and the wts plays with this fear and makes them believe that the end of this world and immortality for the dubs are very near.

Of course, as a JW child I was taught my family and I were never going to die and we would live forever. Then Mom died of cancer at 43 years of age, but she was coming back in the resurrection "very soon now." That was 37 years ago. Now I am a grandma (a young grandma) but I accept that I will grow old and die as millions have and I do not fear it.

WARNING! It is pro-JW. My husband (never a JW) made me have a glass of wine before I watched so I wouldn't get "p***' off. But, I don't regret seeing it. I only look forward to a "Knocking around their Members" version. :)

My hubby just laid down some rules to my elder dad
by Es inrecently an elder called mike's mob phone wanting to speak to me, the only person who could have passed on that info was my elder dad.
mike has been waiting for my dad to call him to arrange to see the kids, as he wont deal with me at all.
so mike said to him i dont appreciate you giving our number out to the elders, we want nothing to do with them or your religion etc... mike than called me and said there was so much more i wanted to tell him.. i get a phone call about 30 mins later, mike had rang my dad and said if you want to see your grandkids then there are a few rules you will need to follow, 1. dont ever give out our personal details (which my dad apologised for and acknowldeged that he shouldnt have done that ) and 2. if you want to see your grandkids you need to speak to your daughter, you can msg her phone or even speak to her.

Awesome for your husband!,,in no terms he was clear that he will not play the JW game. JWs become their own victims in the long run. Your husband is teaching your children real love is "unconditional", a term JW children never hear.

Die hard jw's see any problem with Sept km?
by carla inwill die hard jw's see any control issues with the sept km?
i once brought up the fact to my jw that jw's were not allowed to get together informally to do any kind of 'bible' studies without the approval of the elders, gb, etc.. he said that was totally ridiculous and false, more apostate lies.
this was long ago now and i'm not sure he even remembers saying it.

I was a Watchtower Witness as a child. I would have insisted tho then I was a Jehovah's Witness. I had questions then, but was told I would understand "later" with more knowledge, so I learned to "stuff it". I was an obedient child, vacation pioneered, later after school, I regular pioneered for 5 years, mostly unquestioning during that time. Then, went to Bethel for 5 yrs. Questions happened there some but that was extremely scary for me, I knew the consequences, so I only "self-condemned." Then, when I was around 30 yrs old, a maze-like thinking started happening to me, self-thought started to pick up going forward, but I would desperately try to back-track, trying to make my religion right, it had to be right after all my work in the organization, all I had ever known. I became somewhat inactive during the next years, but by mid 80's I came to the finality that the WT was "all" a lie. I was sickened by the organization's (governing body) dishonesty about '75 fiasco, blaming it on the "people" not themselves, sickened about so many things. The unraveling of the WT spider web took me a long time. So you never know, there could be many there yet going thru a process. I hope, tho, that they can get online & read books so that they can un-"scramble" what the WT has done to their brains and hearts and before the WT brain & heart cementation sets in.
