It must not be worth it for the Society to fix the Hall. Better for their people to hit the gas and travel for their "truth". The Society sounds like it is in their (headquarters) best interest to sell and keep the money for now. As a corporate company, if the store doesn't produce, it's closed down altogether nowadays.

Your inner feelings, independent thought and personal conscience has spotted on something serious wrong with the Watchtower Society. Please research fervently the Watchtower Society of history. You are right to doubt the organization and it is critical that you re-evaluate every teaching of the Watchtower.
The Watchtower Society at one time banned vaccinations ('31- early 50s), organ transplants ('67-'80), blood fractions ('61) and later okayed for their members without any apology for those that suffered and died needlessly. Could the Watchtower okay blood transfusion also some day?
The Watchtower organization has manipulated scriptures, history and basic truth and brought much negativity to so many people.
Thank you for posting here. You will never regret it.

WT Society Makes JW's Feel Bad about Themselves - No Self Worth
by flipper ini have noticed this a lot in attitudes of witness relatives i've talked with over the last few years , as well as other former witness friends i have talked to.
many witnesses feel bad about themselves due to having it drilled into them that we are all " sinners " who allegedly inherited " sin and imperfection " from adam and eve .
that essentially humans are " born dead " or in a " dying " condition due to alleged " inherited sin " .

" Good for nothing slaves."
That phrase still brings up such ill-feelings to me!!! My 4 siblings and I still resent this type of talk and spirit to us when young. We have all raised our children quite differently as most of them were very little when we exited. They were taught our unconditional love and were taught their trueness of their personal value.

Where did the Watchtower Org learn its Mind Control techniques ?
by wobble inthis is a little where and when, i am not widely read in chuck russells stuff or rutherfords, the former is quite looney and the latter makes me want to up-chuck.. but i get the impression, i must admit more from isolated quotes rather than proper reading, that chuck hardly used mind-control,apart from trying to convince that his strange interpretation of scripture was correct, and even rutherford didn't use it so much, although the signs are there.. so when, and where from ,did they learn the mind control methods they use, that are so similar to all the other cults, is there a college course being run somewhere on how to build and control your own cult?.
and do the g.b take extra lessons in it, and pass them on to all members of the writing committee?
and then down the ranks, the d.os and c.os certainly use it,and i don't believe it is un-consciously,they are taught.. any ideas ?

The book Animal Farm by George Orwell, also shows how a group can develop out of an organization,(government or religion) that is corrupt and self-serving and try to develop something better. All kinds of people can be drawn to an utopian ideal for different reasons. But eventually the controllers grow into power, wanting and needing more power, eventually becoming more harsh and intolerant than where they came from. The others, the gullible fall into doing whatever necessary for the 'cause', only to become as burdened as before or even more so.
History shows the rise and fall of many peoples. It seems to be a cycle.

47 years since that film came out..How sad the numbers are that have died prematurely in all this time. It is amazing that the Watchtower Society can be considered a religion in most countries.

German Kingdom Ministry sees increase from 2008 number of publishers to 2009 memorial attendance
by processor inin the german issue of our kingdom ministry for september 2009, the memorial attendance is given: 269,303. .
2008, there were 273,104 attendees, so there is a decrease of 3,801.. rather than stating that, they write: "that are 106,759 more than the average publisher count in the 2008 service year.
an incentive to 'having plenty to do in the work of the lord.'".

Only JW "adults" getting baptized in France?
by Gayle intens of thousands of jehovah's witnesses meet in france(afp) 43 minutes ago.
paris tens of thousands of jehovah's witnesses gathered on saturday in cities across france for an annual international gathering, the religious movement said.. about 150,000 flocked to meetings with the main gathering in villepinte, in the paris region, attracting 50,000 followers.. several hundred jehovah's witnesses were baptised by being immersed in water during the event, which lasts the whole weekend.. those baptised were adults, following the example of christ.. jehovah's witnesses consider themselves the heirs of a primitive form of christianity.. their beliefs are strongly based on the text of the bible and they consider modern christian churches to have deviated from the book's true teachings.. followers reject the ideas of modern evolutionary theory and refuse blood transfusions.. they are perhaps best known for preaching on doorsteps, where they offer religious literature and attempt to convert people.. the movement emerged towards the end of the 19th century in the united states and arrived in france in 1906.. there are more than seven million jehovah's witnesses worldwide and around 150,000 in france.. the group's status varies from country to country.
they are given the same recognition as mainstream religions in austria and germany but are classed as a "recognised cult" in denmark.. in france, some of their branches have the status of "religious association" but the movement was also mentioned in a 1995 parliamentary report on sects.. google_ad_section_end(name=article) copyright 2009 afp.

In my country, averga baptismal age is some 16-18.... Very rare that someone below that age gets baptized.
In your country (?), kids under 16 must be smarter! :)

TRUE STORY--I Met F.W. Franz
by under_believer ini have mentioned, before, that i live in the portland, or metro area.
i'm still anonymous, on here, but there is a very large concentration of witnesses in the portland area, and i think i'm pretty safe on this disclosure.
hopefully this next disclosure won't tip my hand to the undercover witness loyalists.

Maybe it was a minor "karma" kind of thing,,for all his manipulation of heavy negative rules against all the youth throughout all those years. :)
(He never had any of his own kids to do it to him)
