Seems to ratio, by country, depends. Like in U.S. for 2011, the ratio (according to JW 2013 Yearbook), was 1/261. But 2012 was 1/262. So, in U.S., JWs not keeping up. Britain, Australia similar. I haven't checked other 1st world countries but I expect similar. But 3rd world countries probably show the increased parts to pull up that "global" rate.

this one you should find interesting.
it shows the average number of witnesses as a percentage of the global population is increasing, although at nowhere near the rate it was in the 90s.

Any successful methods to discreetly reach out to someone who is studying?
by sseveninches inmy father had me go with him to do a study, and the guy looked like he's a pretty smart guy, and he was asking legitimate questions that i had my own answers to, but of course i couldn't say them.. i'm wondering if anyone has successfully been able to convince/warn anyone that they're getting sucked into a cult.
i wanted to just secretly slip him a note, but i'm always scared to do that from fear of the person throwing me under the bus.
then i got the idea of sending him a text message from a number that can't be traced back to me.

I agree with ssseveninches and ABibleStudent,,that pamphlet from JWFacts and that site are a good starter,,could you mail anonymously that pamphlet? or have a friend slip by that house and leave a copy? or email or all "three for emphasis" of this urgency!

For U.S. claim, there were only 10,427 additional pubs. for 2012. Per congregation ('85' avg size) increase, that is only an average increase of .76, not quite a whole pub. per cong.

What are the WT Society's expenditures?
by Apognophos ini'm hoping someone who has at least a little inside knowledge can help educate me here.
what sort of things does the wbts pay for, on a worldwide basis?.
- i understand that khs are owned and funded locally, at least where the locals can afford them, but what about in poor areas?.

2013 Yearbook showed over $184 Million in caring for special Pios, missionaries and TOs. That averages for 'every' pub. in worldwide $25 each. I don't think most pubs. in world can afford that, so at least 'some' are coming up with that total fund, plus all the other demanding expenses. Plus, there are 21,612 staff at the branches, ($110 (? & depending if that is branchwide) x 12 x 21,612= $28,527,840 plus food and other housing expenses of Bethelites).

Or. . . is it a "full-throttle desperation" attempt for many to regain their "first/new love" for the WT "truths" or revive them to somehow get more of God's spirit or blessing that they fear they are losing. I guess time will tell.

Therefore, in view of the above, the Society has reduced the hour requirement for both regular and auxiliary pioneers. Starting with the 1999 calendar year, the requirement for regular pioneers will be 70 hours each month, or a total of 840 hours for the year. The monthly requirement for auxiliary pioneers will be 50 hours. The hour requirement for special pioneers and missionaries remains unchanged, since provision is made by the Society to help them care for their basic material needs. Thus, they can concentrate more fully on their preaching and disciple-making work.

*** km 1/99 p. 7 pars. 2-3 Adjustment in Hour Requirements for Pioneers ***

The Society has observed the mounting difficulties faced by pioneers, especially with regard to finding part-time secular work that will allow them to care adequately for their personal needs so as to remain in the full-time service. The present economic situation in many lands has also made it increasingly difficult for others to enter the pioneer work, even though that is their heartfelt desire. During recent months, these and other factors have been carefully considered.3

We know the "bar" for pubs. was lowered, 15 min/month pubs are counted. Increases in pubs are decreasing annually, 1.9% worldwide, .9% U.S.
Baptisms decreasing annually in U.S. and other 1st world countries.
Aux. pioneers decreasing, even tho they created a 1 month/yr, 30 hr requirement, but avg. annually is still decreasing greatly (I expect them to adopt a 30 hr Aux. Pio. for 'every' month a yr.)
Bible Studies "bar" lowered, for acceptable 'door-step' kind, with a scripture read & a sentence from literature at least.
For Reg. Pio. the hour requirement of 70 hrs/mo started in 1999, 14 yrs ago.
Why are more "Regular" Pioneering? 6% increase this last year.

Remarkable Statistic - Bible Studies compared to Baptisms
by jwfacts ini am surprised i have not noticed this before, particularly since this is one of the most important statistics, and so have just added the new graphs to watchtower publisher statistics.. the number of bible studies generally trends roughly with the number of publishers on a one to one basis.
however, the number of baptisms has not been rising.
this has resulted in a rapidly falling conversion rate.

http://www.censusscope.org/us/chart_age.html
This shows U.S. population by age. Of course, a lot of approximation would have to be done, as under 18 could be about 26%, most being already counted as publishers, and some baptized already. Could 20% of their publishers be their children?, at approximately 230,000? How many of these are counted as Bible Studies by their parents, plus any additional Bible Studies counted by the parents of those under 5 yrs old, that are not counted as "publishers" as of yet?
Just wondering, could an average U.S. Cong. having 85 publishers, have 17? kids (6-17)? Could there be about 6 (5 and under) kids? Seems possible.
Just a lot of questions, I know. But, the baptisms seem to be their young kids and shows to be the more dominant part of their growth.
