I think that the WTS has found if they announce something even negative straight out, but with, hoopla energy, most JWs just "clap" and will 'think' no further about it. It is a type weird cult methodology that works for them.

Special Assembly in Puerto Rico Coliseum to annouce Branch Closure
by Calebs Airplane inso, 2 weekends ago, my wife is showing an apartment to a potential buyer in the financial district of san juan and walks the buyer over to the balcony to show her the awesome views.
the buyer looks down at a crowd approaching puerto rico coliseum (aka jose miguel agrelot coliseum) and asked my wife: "are those jehovah's witnesses?
" my wife looks down from 19 stories up, notices the "pioneer pace" of the crowd and says: "yes.

List of Branch Offices and Country Offices of Jehovah's Witnesses
by cedars ini'm trying to put together a comprehensive master list of watch tower society branch offices that corresponds roughly with the figure published in the worldwide report.. i feel it would be useful to monitor the number and location of existing branch offices, because i believe the distribution of branch offices worldwide is a good indicator of the society's financial wellbeing.
we now seem to be entering a period of branch office closures, with last year seeing an unprecendented 16% reduction in branch office numbers over the year before.
it will be interesting to see how things develop moving forward, but i'm hoping that by keeping a list of the offices we will be better placed to keep track of the "retreat" if branch office numbers continue to dwindle.. here we go.... .

Interesting Read About a JW Missionary in China

i found it a very interesting read.
the article was linked on one of my fav websites digg.

What an interesting article! This girl obviously had a lot of spunk and personal independence in her nature to take on this "missionary" role, even compared to most JW girls. It is most interesting the difference in the lifestyle required for any JWs in China. Certainly, they have to have a special independent fortitude, and really cannot be so dependent on common indoctrination of the barrage of meetings, assemblies, and constant association of JWs. Certainly, these meetings etc. help keep JWs in that mental control. All that time on your own, would certainly give many, to most, time for 'personal' thinking,,God forbid, no, GB forbid.
It's seems that it would be near impossible to keep ones 'cultic mind,' under so few meetings and hardly any association with each other.
It is wonderful that she was able to pursue her outstanding abilities now out of JWdom and her own full mind to pursue her freedom and education of life.

by 88JM ini know this is true every week, and i say it all the time, and i know blondie will be doing her review later, but.... today's watchtower was bat-shit crazy!.
i knew it was going to be a bizzare one just reading it, but the comments at the meeting took it even further.
i can't post all the crazy ones, but in summary what they were saying was:.

"Although the majority of people in the world are racist and bigoted, JWs are not racist and bigoted. We are different to people in the world."
Of course, don't be concerned about the Governing Body. the Faithful and Disreet Slave. No Hispanics. No Asians. One Black American (token.)

question regarding humans only using a small percentage of the brain
by Matsimus inhello, i want to discuss with my mother about jws saying we only use a small percentage, and that we will use the entire brain when we become perfect in the paradise.
if someone could provide me with som references or quotes about this from the literature, i would really appreciate it.
thanks in advance :).

This was again some false information to, again limit us, and make us desire the new world more. If they print something like that again, since Internet, they will get slammed. Enjoyed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_percent_of_brain_myth

Maybe they haven't figured out yet what they can get away with again for this year? Still trying/struggling to work their 2/3 voting majority for any "new light" ideas yet?

Jehovahs Witnesses and psychiatric diagnoses?
by Marvin Shilmer injehovahs witnesses and psychiatric diagnoses?.
today i added a new article to my blog sharing information from a 1983 study published in the journal for the scientific study of religion addressing religious affiliation and psychiatric diagnoses.
this article pulls information from an excellent academic study that is often misunderstood and therefore underutilized for its value.

I think 'some people,' including ones that have forms of mental illness, are drawn to a mindset of many rules and narrow dogmatisms. They think that 'over' structure and rules help them. Demanding rules such as don't drink ever, don't eat meat, don't smoke, don't, don't, don't most everything. Over=Rules help them not to even 'think.' Some just like to be 'ruled."
However, when they 'break' a rule, then most fall into a very deep depression, and end up worse. Then, they go into endless whirlwind struggling between self-righteousness and condemnation. A miserable state. Cultism contributes to this imbalance and creates a deep dependence from their members.

The fact is, after 30 yrs old, there aren't very many available single male JWs. If there is, there's plenty pickings of much younger gals for them.

Just half done with the book. A must read. Lawrence Wright doesn't have to express anything about points identifying this as a cult. All these experiences and insider identify this religion's leadership as madness. No one (in their right mind) after reading this book would consider one moment getting involved in this group. It is outrageous how it treats their people. Terrible for their youth also.
It is so bazaar and much worse, yet there are many methods that still have similarities to WTS/organization.
