The WT 'pond' is in trouble. Sinking funds, sinking spawns and stinking fish. Floundering is happening.

Disunity or power struggle and 'blame game' at the top could happen. ( wonder if any GB are not happy with Jackson ((where is Jackson now anyway - in hiding?)), including the Australian Branch, just to put blame on someone)

Took years, but Worldwide Church of God broke up to 5 groups and now to about 13 groups and amazingly still exist (with smaller numbers), besides there were many individually just left it all.

the royal commission published it's redress report today.

it is a 668 page document, but it is very interesting.

all the recommendations they make are in harmony with what all other institutions will accept.

The commission doesn’t have the power to find guilt or issue punishment. But a spokesman said it has referred more than 700 matters to authorities and will make recommendations to the government in a final report in 2017.

So WT will not be moved to change much since "commission doesn't have the power to find guilt or issue punishment." What the government does in 2017 can only be guessed. The WT. has time to collect a lot of donations and sell Kingdom Halls by then. Wonder how many KHs there are in Australia? A few hundred?

In the meantime, it Wt business as usual.

Today's Special Day Assembly Expenses and the $10,499 Deficit. Silent Majority?

today i attended a one-day assembly in my hometown.

i knew when it came time to read the afternoon expenses that it would be an incredibly high and ridiculous amount that was nowhere near the real expenses for that day.

sure enough, after lunch came the announcement.

Wifibandit,, so I assume there are baptisms at both circuit assemblies then. (12 is high number for that size attendance) The Spanish carry a the higher baptism percentage number than the English. So do you suppose the Spanish JWs are just paying up this kind of money without complaint? Seems this would bother many.

Had to look up "Metrosexual" - a young, urban, heterosexual male with liberal political views, an interest in fashion, and a refined sense of taste. other phrases, fastidious grooming, beauty treatments, and fashionable clothes. also, other derog, "pretty boy." Is the percentage of young boys getting baptized much lower than percentage of girls?

I know the Org. has their manipulation with statistics. A fact.

This report states "first nine months of this service year" (Sept 2014 - May 2015), not indicating whether "Peak" or "Avg.". (t. Their Yearbook 2014 Report showed 2% increase, for 'full' service year (Sept 2013-Aug 2014. That was a round up figure, from 'their' numbers, without the roundup, would have been 1.6% increase (Avg. Pub). Often, the WT uses "Peak Pubs" (a fluffed up number by their own admission of double counting, especially in August)

U.S. population increased near that anyway.

Friends of All Sorts....

when i hear people say that you can't keep your jw friends when you leave i can understand why they say that.

however, i can also see how that is a generalization.

i remember my life growing up as a jw and having good friends who were jewish and catholic and protestant and buddhist and hindu and muslim and atheists.

It's wonderful you had a moderation regarding what "friendship" meant to you personally. Fortunately, you did not let the judgmentalism of the Watchtower impact you. Most JW parents run a tight ship on association for their children. Many JW kids like to associate with non-JW kids at school. Extracurriculars, school or otherwise were forbidden by most JW parents with regular admonitions. Most JW kids find a personal contradiction wanting to have non-JW friends, but however, being taught and believing somewhat, that their God, Jehovah, was going to destroy all non-JWs soon. (oh, the pain of heart I had going door to door calling on a fellow students and even teachers - didn't know where they lived)

How much a JW youth absorbs, takes to heart, lives with personal conflict, is complex, impacts each one differently. I saw very frequently, when one parent, often the father not 'in' at all, or not as devoted to JWism, leaves a window open for many children to be more independent of thinking and a very high rate of those leave the organization very young and not with much trauma.

However, when both parents are very devout, father is an elder or ms, mother pioneer frequently, often, there is no or not much room for independent thinking on the part of the JW child. For this child, as one grows and matures, on into adulthood, there is much re-education, re-analyzation to go through, it can take time and a lot of effort.

Certainly, it is worth it and when raising our children, we find much joy raising them with freedom of heart and mind.
