" you will never grow old..."
by mrquik in" you will never grow old..." a more grievous lie is hard to imagine.
i heard this one first in 1957. i was 6. my mother had just converted.
i heard it many times after that.

Happy to 'chime in' with this group here. I was 9 yrs old when I was told my folks and I would never get old - 60 yrs ago. In 1970, I was assured mom would be resurrected 'soon.' So, for a dozen years or so, I juggled these and many JW issues. I chose to accept 'reality' versus JW lulling dreams. I have not missed the unrealistic JW world for one second!

Kids continue to leave in droves - so what is the organization's grand plan? This
by sir82 injws have one of the worst, if not the worst, retention rates among their kids.
i've seen numbers from 65% to 88% who leave, never to return.. you'd think this would be a priority amongst the leadership, right?
where do tomorrow's leaders come from, if the vast majority of kids leave the organization?

Thank you, sir! I wonder who of the GB were raised in org and only a couple or few in all had any biological children? I know a few years ago, it was stated on this site, there were about 88,000 elders in U.S. I wonder what percent of elders were raised in org? The org. has only been a burden for their children, totally unrealistic.
I assume Steve Lett was raised in as he was at Bethel by 20 yrs old or so.

Is this a desperate measure to get the young brothers to reach out because of the organization's need for "ministerial servants"?

"Freedom is a grand thing to celebrate!" We came from a culture that we couldn't be 'independent.' But we made it!
Celebrate it!! Fireworks and all!! ( Some can't openly celebrate it yet, but maybe in spirit)

Expanding number of DC/RC's
by DwainBowman inaccording to my elder in law, by next year the number of dc/rc's will increase by 143. the size of conventions will get smaller.
the elder in law says the goal is to make them all have around 2,000 or so at each.
they are going to make more manuals detailing each job and it's responsibilities.

So it sounds like "three" circuit assemblies a year now!? Only one is 3 days long and two are one day each? Maybe the RC could go down to two days and the WT could still get as much money donation for it?
No one will notice their masses and baptisms shrinking And as their older ones age, they won't miss the massive crowds. The WT is preparing for a slow fizzling.

Attendances & Baptisms at Summer Conventions
by steve2 inthere have been very informative threads on presentations and audience reactions ("thrilled", "emotional") at this summer's regional conventions (formerly district conventions) but little on actual attendance numbers and numbers baptized.
.
or could i be directed to current threads discussing these aspects - i searched but found nothing.
-
Gayle
.6% of attendance. A little higher there than some other conventions but still not so impressive.

Judge sanctions WTS - $4k per day penalty for not producing sex abuse documents
by Simon injudge sanctions jehovah's witnesses.
imposes $4000-a-day penalty for not producing documents in sex-abuse case.
by dorian hargrove, june 24, 2016. a san diego superior court judge has ordered the church of jehovah's witnesses, also known as the watchtower bible and tract society of pennsylvania, to pay $4000 a day for every day that it fails to produce documents requested in a civil lawsuit brought by former parishioner, osbaldo padron, who claims a church elder sexually abused him when he was seven years old.. in a june 23 ruling, expected to be made final today, judge richard strauss admonished the church for willfully ignoring a court order to produce all documents associated with a 1997 body of elders letter that church leaders sent to parishes around the world in a quest to learn about sexual abuse of children by church leaders.. over the course of the past year, the watchtower society and its lawyers have fought hard to keep the letter confidential, claiming that turning over the documents would infringe on the privacy of those mentioned in the letter that were not associated with the case.. in march 2015, the church turned over a heavily redacted version of the letter.

$4k/day to penalize the JWorg for documents is like penalizing a willful lawbreaker 'individual' only $4/day. Not much bite.

Seems if the WT can find a 'printing' source that works cheaper for them, then I think eventually they may find a cheaper or comparable 'shipping' source to be better or cheaper overall. Actually, the WT could just tell the congs. to pay for the shipping directly themselves. That would be fair and congs. would/should be watchful of not just throwing away paper.
Then, since any remaining Bethelites are being told to cook their own meals and do their own cleaning and laundry, that leaves just the need for the service dept (supervisory)., writing, and Legal Dept. oh yeah, and tv (& cartoon) dept. Of course, there will still be the demand for donations as much as ever.
