The Bible there looks like it is with soft leather & gold edges,,does the WTS print a Bible like that for its people now since this WT is for 'their eyes only' now?

Exciting announcements at service meeting
by truthseeker inwe've already had a post on this, but there were other interesting comments.. the brother giving the announcements said that there would be a new understanding of jesus' reference to the generation as discussed at the annual meeting.. an elder giving a service meeting part review of different watchtower articles from the current year brought out the new light concerning 1935.. he asks: "when is the sealing of the anounted ones?".
elder answers: "there is no specific date".
later after the meeting, i asked an elder if the new understanding of the remnant now meant that younger people could go to heaven.. he answered with an affirmative "yes" and that we would be getting the new understanding of the generation jesus spoke of in a future 2008 watchtower.. .

Of course, if any complain to the WTS, that they always felt they had the 'heavenly calling' but were talked out of it back when, the GB now typically will only say it was the individual's fault & of the 'rank & file.' I think thousands will make the 'switch.'

fader's wife expresses 1st doubts....
by sweet pea intalking to a friend (ex-elder) today whose wife was (is) a close friend of mine .
she's still a jdub but won't talk to me now i'm df'd (apparently it hit her very hard when we left) and so she busied herself with ministry and meetings in search of comfort and affirmation of her faith.
this didn't work for her and she came out with an unexpected question... .

It makes me sad to see Ray Franz looking this feeble...

Ray was always a gracious, humble man at Bethel. Never intimidating. Outstanding that he and his wife, Cynthia, left relative comforts or a form of security and so-called friends at Bethel in his mid-50s to start a whole new life with no retirement package. Thankfully, he has written books and has set thousands free. That he is still traveling long distances to faraway lands and foreign languages with still a mission is amazing. I still see a wonderful 'giant' in this man.

For those hoping to reform the Watchtower
by drew sagan inthere have been a number of posts discussing reform in the watchtower, mostly revolving around a letter on this thread.
i just wanted to put my two cents in on this issue.
because i am not attached to any of the main doctrines and teachings of the jws, i feel no personal need to reform them.

To reform, each individual has to re-analyze and re-evaluate everything there. Once an individual does that, who needs the Watchtower or anything like it?

Time for a new great schism, apostasy, falling away, dissension?
by Awakened07 in"nineteen fourteen - nineteen schmorsteen" ?.
we've had some threads about this, but it seems the general consensus is that they cannot change the 1914 date - it is what the entire organization rests it's doctrine on.. but why do we say that, really?
at one time (and for many, many years), the years 1799 and 1874 were pivotal dates to the bible students.

I don't see that any of the GB now, individually or collectively, have the creativity, imagination or charisma to change much of anything.

Awesome, for a whole clan of you leaving after so long.. your siblings also? My siblings and I left about 20 years ago (after 4 of the 5 of us had pioneered and Bethel) and our father left finally also. So many best wishes to you and your whole family.

A Future Tipping Point?
by metatron incurrently, congregations in the us might have an average of less than 5 elders each.
a large number of elders are debilitated by age or chronic illness.
in addition, i knew of many elders.

The congregations operated before '71 with one 'congregation servant' w/at least two or more ministerial servants for decades, could that happen again?

Hi from a newbie here
by tere1998 ini joined this site about a week ago and have enjoyed reading all the posts and chatter.
i was raised in the jws, baptized at 17 (didn't know any better) but once i got married and had a baby, i just didn't have enough time to go to all the meetings during the week.
we got the "shepherding calls" and pretty much were looked down on for not going to all the meetings.

I like to see the Phoenix, AZ group growing! Well, I haven't gone to a Phoenix Meetup yet, but maybe we can meetup at the Phoenix Meetup sometime soon. I left JW world a couple decades ago. Sometime, I may write my story down too.
