I have already found that:
my own peace of mind, my joy, and my own personal conscience.
the po comes to see me and talks round the houses trying to find out what my problem is.. so i tell him "look its something i have to sort out for myself and i dont want to destroy your faith and make you start questioning so id rather not tell you".
he already knew cos the first elder went to his house the second he left mine and told him about [what i thought was a private conversation between mates,] my issues.. so he proceeds to tell me a story of a brother he knows who was always very studious and knowledgable about all prophecies and the details of our beliefs.. well the guy suddenly stopped attending meetings last year, dont know why but the po seemed pretty upset about it as he was an old friend.. so he says " i said to him, but john, where will you go now on sunday afternoons,!
and really wary where else will you go?".

the wbts regularly warns it's members about the dangers of attempting to lead a double life.
"it can cost you dearly", they counsel the jw youth; "causing a loss of trust and a bad conscience".. fact is, the governing body know this through bitter experience.
they tried to secretly maintain a relationship with the united nations whilst publically condemning it as a harlot-like wild beast and tool of satan.
As a group, their conscience has been scarred for a very long time.
i remember back when the convention used to be four days, and there was no afternoon session on friday(or was it thursday?).
instead we were supposed to go out in field service in the afternoon.
they did this up until about the early to mid-80's.
I remember too. '58 - 8 days (almost 12 yrs old then). Traveled by car from California to NY. No air-conditioning. The Society leased an old ship (believe me not a cruise ship) for those 8 days that had brought over JWs from Europe and utilized it for JWs to 'rent',,bunk beds & shared bathrooms. Don't know how Mom did it with 4 children. We usually went in service at district assemblies but I don't remember going in service there. My 'cheer-leader' JW Mom was understandably very drained I do recall. We did get to go up the Empire State building as was very important to me then but that was about the only sightseeing time that we had. I had so wanted to go to the Statue of Liberty but didn't get to go. Went back to NY in '69 for Bethel.

hello everyone hope there is room for another newbie.. i feel like i know all of you from reading your posts over the last months.. and i must thank you all for your great and very informative posts.
it has really reinforced all the things that i had been feeling for years.
my husband and i were both raised in the "truth".
Motherhood had started my re-evaluation also. One just reflects back on how they were raised and then most parents want to do better. There were many moves that also helped to get out of the JW radar. Now my kids are grown with freeminds and not too many JW memories. Four of 5 have graduated college and the 5th graduates this May.

i don't hear much about don adams, current president of wtbs.
how does he figure into the "good ole boys" gb?
does he make public appearances like franz and knorr?
Karl Adams was the Awake editor.

In the 70s, Don Adams wasn't a "partaker" of the emblems, didn't profess to be the anointed/remnant , unless that has changed.
i just made a batch of yogurt last night and it turned out great.
i can't remember who at bethel showed me how to make it, but i'm eternally grateful, or for however long i should live.
it was so warm and humid in b'klyn that i never needed an incubator.
I learned how to make yogurt too at Bethel in early 70s. I never like yogurt till then. The stuff at the store can't compare. It was the best, the milk brought in from the Farm. I learned from my roommate. To my knowledge she is still there at Bethel.
