Just concerned about the legal "Right to Peaceful Assembly."
I know to peacefully protesting 'outside' the property would be fine. However, going 'inside' a KH to protest may not be legal. ?

let's play devils advocate here.. put yourself in the governing body's shoes.
they are well aware of all the issues they are facing.
they know their numbers (they 'do the math' as they say in the us).
To stop the shunning, is very critical to JWdom. Shunning keeps the cult in control, strong.
Shedding shunning, even gradually, would allow for the 'personal conscience' to develop. Then, one's start developing their own guidelines. They will get more comfortable to 'think,' to define what is really bad or not. Like whether they personally will socialize with their relative or friends that formerly would have been df'd. Then others will start thinking their conscience is clear to celebrate a birthday of a 1 yr old or not or an 80 year old family member. Then, Thanksgiving, which not truly of pagan origins, etc. Higher educaion will become less threatening. Many members would gradually integrate into the real world. They will begin to trust themselves that they won't be getting evil (as the WT threatens).
my spies tell me that the attendance for hellaby this last sunday was only 600.. that's all i know.
i imagine some on here have perhaps some more insights into why.
however, it seems rather low, don't you think?.
wow, low attendance, how much seating capacity, one commenter on a googled site indicated 1200 attenders possible at one time,, how many baptized, with 600 attenders, the odds are about 1/2 a person got baptized.
i've recently been at an assembly here in romania and there was an announced they were running a 10,000 euro deficit and urging all attendees to donate more money besides the already 5k has was donated during that day.
i really don't understand these things.

Poor JW kids. It used to be that they would go door to door selling mags/books. Then later, they had to present and 'give' mags for free to householders. Now, they have to just strike a type of 'conversation' with householders?! How unnatural for kids. Basically, it's getting to be even more so that the wt org is doing nothing to help pubs. in the so-called ministry. They are on their own.

He was my book study conductor at Bethel Heights Congregation within the Bethel building (107) in '69 while I was in 'primary' for 6 months, assigned to Grenwich Village book study group (assigned with 4 or 5 other new Bethelites,). He didn't have such facial expressions back then. Actually I was shocked to see how he is now in recent videos. He was pleasant, not arrogant, I think about 21 yrs old then & a partaker already. I chuckle now how It must have been a site for 6 young suited guys and me, 1 female, taking the subway and walking down Grenwich Village streets.

Wondering: how is it working in reality when families dealing with disfellowshipped family members? I heard that the Latino mamas and grandmas aren't handling that issue - to cut off their children and grandchildren. Afterall, in that culture, a tight generational family for care of each other, and definitely, as they age, is a basic necessity.
I expect the same issue to hit gradually other countries, especially third-world and cultures?
I see even in the U.S. there are many aging, (& widowed) JWs women, somehow work around the DF issue of their grown children, as they have claim that they need their grown children to care for them, etc. They know from experience that the congregations don't or can't take care of them.
since leaving the jws i have become fascinated by the lds church, because of the similarities both organisations have.
in reading x-mo forums i get the impression that they tend to be not as bitter and as twisted as xjw.
this is surprising as i think the lds is a bigger con than the jws.
how many hours a week of meetings do the lds kids have to sit thru that are not age appropriate? how much unnatural work do they have to do, like jws kids having to go door to door, lds kids are big time into organized sports, birthdays, holidays. most lds kids encouraged to go to college. most lds don't completely shun their kids, if their kids aren't active. "Jack" Mormons are accepted.
