No, but it will gradually fade until 100 years from now it will be closer to mainstream. I agree, they have to change or it will die, although I think those that are loyal to the WT will stay with it until they die. I know of those that I care deeply are still behind the WT's walls and I'm still waiting for one in particular to climb over it and run, but I don't count on it. In fact, I'll probably die waiting for that day.

and now we have to silence you
by A Paduan inif a jw reads jw pulications, figures out it looks like a sham, and then brings up the inconvenient truths to "the wrong people" - is that all it takes to get silenced - ousted - removed - ceased etc ?

Back in late '87 when I was living with my aunt in Chicago to get away from the harassment and intimidation of the elders from the congregation I once attended, my mother called me sounding like she was crying and told me one of the elders came to visit her, placed his hands on her, shaking her and demanding my whereabouts. She told him that I was at work and to get out of her house. Not satifisfied at my mom's answer, he began to open doors inside of her home looking for me! At that, my mom became enraged and grabbed her broom, throwing him out of the house (my mom is 5'2" and diabetic). As he was being thrown out, he threatened my mom that if I said "anything," he will see to it that I would be "taken care of." Even though what happened to her scared the hell out of me, I calmly told my mom that the next time he shows up, she is to call the police. My mom eventually calmed down, but she was very confused about his behavior (my mom was studying with a JW lady from the Spanish congre.), and didn't understand how bad the JW religion can be (yes, I guess I was scared into silence about it even to my mom). At that point, I began to tell her all about what happened to me for the past two years. She couldn't believe it and promptly stopped her study.
To this day, she doesn't answer the door when JWs come around (she lives in FL now). When they do, she always mentions the day when Bro. J--- came around to shake her down!
We laugh about it now, it was truly a bizzaro world I got myself in, but at least we're not afraid of JWs, and we freely tell it all like it is if anyone wants to know about the Watchtower.
Hmm, maybe I should write a book. The more I remember my times with JWs, the crazier it sounds, sort of like a soap opera.

Are you still scared of Jehovah?
by MsMcDucket ini remember the watchtower organization having me so scared of jehovah that i was getting paranoid.
i kept thinking he was watching me no matter where i was at.
i wouldn't dare say anything bad against the organization because jehovah was listening to me.

No, not since the day during the closing of one prayer, "With undeserved kindness....," I saw Jehovah as a feeble old man still controlling his children after a lifetime of abuse and neglect. Jehovah became very small to me that day, and I have since prayed everyday for the true God of the Universe, at least that's how I view God now, to destroy that evil entity and finally give humanity some higher level of intellect to finally be a peaceful and loving race.
The one thing that kept me in the JWs' clutches is gone; they and Jehovah's conduct drained me of any love for that God.
No, I don't fear him at all.

This morning, my husband got a knock on our door and it was a JW lady that dropped off the infamous tract the month before asking if he wanted to discuss it with her. My husband just looked at her as if she were nuts and told her no thanks, we definitely are not talking to you, and slammed the door. My husband never knew what JWs were all about until he met me; he still can't understand how people can be so duped. I really need to contact the nearest KH and tell them to take my address off their list. It shouldn't annoy me, it's been years since I left them behind, but I still have no patience for them. I rather perish than deal with their crap again.

"In lieu of flowers, please donate to the World Wide Work of JW's"
by Wild_Thing inin lieu of flowers, donations made to the world wide work of jehovah's witnesses would be appreciated by the family.. anybody ever seen a witness family do this before?
i saw it in an obit in a newspaper online and it made me sick!
most people ask for donations to non-profit organizations that help fight disease like cancer, etc.

I saw those exact same words in an obit I saw about three years ago. To make matters worse, or at least with me, the boy I got in trouble with back in '85 was giving the funeral speech for the deceased sister!
Some people never learn : (

I began to study with a JW lady in the fall of 1979 when I was 13, and I studied with her until she got tired of me and of picking me up for meetings (some friend). That was in 1984 and I continued my study with another JW lady (a real back-stabbing bitch) until the fall of 1986 when I got tired of being in unbaptized limbo, the false friends and all the bad stuff going on in my congregation (not to mention getting into trouble with a boy from another congregation, heh, heh). I really wish they had the 6-month cutoff for studies. It would have saved me a lot of heartache and it would have forced me to look for friendship and love elsewhere. Oh well, sometimes you have to learn the hard way.

Did You Ever REALLY Love "Jehovah God"?
by minimus inlooking back, honestly, do you think you ever really loved jehovah??
?

With all the love bombing I initially received when I first came to the KH, I actually thought the people there cared about me, so I thought this was God's place on earth. I really thought I loved Jehovah, but it was the Watchtower I was infatuated with. Then one day after hearing too many prayers closing with underserved kindness, I closed my prayer (in my mind) with a "Well, f.... you, then, Jehovah!" It was then I realized that I was worshipping the Watchtower and not really loving Jehovah at all, so I left.
I don't know if there is a god in the universe, but the real one has to be bigger, smarter and more loving than the stupid Watchtower.

I lived in Apopka and know the Sorrento area very well (got my cat Sara in a shelter nearby there). We've moved to Pennsylvania in May 2005. It's so sad when a young man dies like that. My deepest condolences.

Hi, I'm originally from NW Indiana (born in Gary, Indiana), and I attended the Glen Park Congregation until I left to live in Central Florida in 1988. I also knew a few people around the neighboring congregations such as the Lake Station congre., the Hammond congre., and the Crown Point congre. I now live in Eastern PA. I still keep in contact with one person who now attends the Chesterton congre., she's still a JW, but she does talk to me. She's been through several cycles of DF/Reinstatement, why she still puts up with it, well, you know, her family's still in. I don't know anyone from the Valpo congre., although I briefly dated a guy from the above congregations that did.
