Aortic Stenosis

eight years ago before simon changed over to this site, i was known as blueblades.

i mentioned back then 7/21/03 that i was diagnosed as having a narrow aortic valve.

well, the time has come to update all my friends back then and now.

I was diagnosed with Aortic Stenosis at age 8 and had open-heart surgery in 1999. I have a allograf or homo graft, which is an aortic valve from a cadaver. My surgery was performed in Florida Hospital, Orlando, FL by Dr. Carey Stowe.

So far so good.

Call from elder

i received a call a few hours ago from an elder.of course he didn't call me to ask how i was or if i needed help.instead he told me that "the youth and some older brothers" of my congregation will gather (at another elder's house,you see 2 elders to "get a hold of the situation") to talk about the "internet,facebook etc dangers".i told him that i will go.hmmm...it's going to be an interesting conversation..

Watchtower's Official Policy Concerning College

is it official watchtower policy that an elder cannot remain an elder if he allows his children to go to college?.

also, is it official policy that a person cannot have "privileges" or even pioneer if they are attending college?.

if it is, can someone post scans of the official boe letters stating the watchtower policy concerning college?.

College/No College for JWs? It depends on who you are in the KH. Children of elders; absolutely. Young single sisters (especially with no family within the Watchtower walls); no, your "education" is placing mags/tracts to no end, get as many converts as possible and then marrying a brother in good standing to support you; that is, if the "JW papacy" think you are good enough or done enough for their precious Watchtower god.

Back in 1986, I know of one occurence involving an elder's hospitalized teenage daughter who needed a blood transfusion. From what I hear from those in the KH I attended, another elder snuck in, pulled the line from her arm and took her out of the hospital. I didn't want believe this was true (this elder was admired for it), but it was one of the final straws for me to leave. I didn't want to be associated with criminal acts and this was one of them in my book.

a sister rang and left a message to see how we are....but i called back the next day and she said...."oh sorry i have no time to talk, the circuit oversear is coming for dinner, can you call back?

" this reminds me of c.o dinners it's a major suck up...like jesus and his apostles are coming for dinner.

the pioneers like this sister always get the c.o to come over.. anyone had the pleasure?.

Ugh... my home is off limits for most guests, let alone a PO or CO even if I had gotten baptized, etc., etc.

I still wouldn't invite anyone for lunch or dinner. I just don't cook and when I do, it puts me in a bad mood.

Car Group -- Dressed up.

the other day, i was with a car full of kids, and we saw a car group going out in service.

the kids , mostly young teens, were fascinated with the suits, ties, dresses, etc.

i was explaining a little about it, and they kept asking questions like, "wow, can they go swimming?

During the summer JWs come to Reading, PA for their DAs, and when my husband and go out to eat in the evening, we see JWs in the restaurant all dressed up (with their name tags on, of course). They stick out like a sore thumb because the majority of the people in there, myself included, dress casually. Since I've been out of their circle for many years, it's very odd seeing them like that. My husband asked me about a little boy that was with one of them wondering why they were dressing the tyke in a three-piece suit. I told them they always dress their children like miniature adults. It weirded my husband out. It just reminds me of the old Stephord Wives movie, except in their case, Stephord people.

Glad those days are over for me.

I live in the Reading, PA area and my husband and I took our daughter last year to see Avril Lavigne. Yes, it was a mad house, but we had fun.

Some of the act are good this year, but no one we really wanted to see to spend the money (my husband and I just went to see Depeche Mode at the Nissan Pavillion in D.C.).

We plan to go this Friday just to walk around, eat stuff and go home.
