Frankly, I'm surprised they didn't decide to liquidate the Brooklyn properties ten years ago, when the real estate market was white-hot. I thought when 360 Furman was sold several years back the rest would follow rather quickly. I bet they don't get what they would have gotten for it all if they had sold back then. But, still a smart business move for them, IMO....they are sitting on a veritable gold mine there in the Heights...

by oompa ini was told today by a heavyweight elders wife, both of whom were at bethel for many years and are very well connected to the brooklyn brass, that all brooklyn bethel operations will be moved to wallkill and patterson.
in fact, there is a very exclusive walk-through next week for some of the top real estate investors/developers who will see all the properties, starting with the sands, and its lobby has now been remodeled to look just like a high-end hotel..................just fyi.................................oompa

Scariest Movie you have ever seen?
by Layla33 ini know as exjws, probably for the most, there was a secret freedom in watching horror films without thinking you would have a demon as a bed buddy.. i am not very fond of every horror movie, but i will watch those that have an intelligent side to it and is not gore for the sake of gore.
like "the ring" got me going when i first watched it, just like "the blair witch project" did, which is more about suspense.
anyway, i never saw any of the saw movies, so i am going to try to watch saw iii tonight, since it is on showtime.

Blood and guts are not what scare me, but rather the suggestion put forth by the movie. Blair Witch Project is a perfect example of this. I didn't sleep without a light on for nights after seeing that one. Rosemary's Baby is another good one.
Also, The Shining and Pet Sematary, two movies based on Stephen King novels, were pretty scary to me.

by DT init seems that the watchtower society was very ill prepared for the advent of the internet.
perhaps, some of the governing body thought the end would come before it became a big problem.

Jah VERY Merciful -delaying the end

i used to say "isnt jehovah wonderful -he is being especially merciful by delaying the end so more people can come in the truth and be saved" the wtbts representatives have said the same.. problem here is that earths population grows about 20,000 per day (reference needed here) .
not even close to that come into the truth.

First, You atheists on the board, I'm not trying to start a debate, so don't engage me in one....lol...Dinah, you ask about God's permitting wickedness, suffering, etc. Just because he PERMITS it, does not mean he causes it or that he is unloving. would you deny a child a painful operation or medical care if you thought it was in the interests of their long term good health of that child to have it? of course not. I admit, sometimes it is difficult for us as puny humans with puny human brains to comprehend why wickedness and suffering has been allowed, but I believe we have to assume a Higher Power is in control...

Those are both understandable ideas, crusoe and Dinah, but, again, we only have our imperfect human minds to come up with these ideas. We are greatly limited in what we know and can even understand, IMO. My point was, I don't think we know enough to make a definite conclusion on the issue and timing of armageddon.

Huge college football fan here. Dinah, nice to see there is another tide fan here to keep me company. Dawg, you guys WILL BE EXPECTED to win the SEC this year, so all the pressure is on you guys. Right now, I would have to agree that jawja will be huge favorite over us in Athens, but something tells me we will give you guys a good game, just like our lousy team that we had this past season almost beat you 24-26 in T-town.
Dinah, what do you think our year end record will be for 2008? I am predicting 8-4. Nick brought in the no 1 rated recruiting class in the country this spring, but I still think it will take several years to get our program back to the level where we win 9-10 games/yr.

I still think there is too much that we do not know. Every explanation given here about the delay of the Big A seems understandable, but it is the result of imperfect human reasoning and thinking. EXJWELDER, I agree, I think the teachings of the WTBTS are subject to change, that's why I take everything they publish or put out with a grain of salt. But I think the basic premise is correct--Almighty God will at some point step in and intervene in this world, whether it is ten years from now or a thousand years from now, I don't know...
