How many marriages has the WT busted up?
by dinah injust been clickin' around the past few weeks.. how many marriages have been ruined by the wt?
how many were doomed from "i do" by the wt.
it seems that love is so conditional, they should add it in the vows-----forsaking all others but not the wt.. and then what about those few whom god (elders) shine on who can get away with adultery and make the other person look guilty?

There's no doubt that, for a religion that claims to represent God, sure has a high and ever- increasing divorce rate among its members. Also, you are right Dinah--all the offending/guilty mate has to do is 'sit out' a year or two df'ed and then they can come back in to open arms, the reasons for the divorce be damned. I know--I was a victim of this kind of chicanery...in Alabama.

A Kinder, Gentler Armageddon?
by undercover inin another thread it was mentioned that a newer wt or awake stated that "god's battle is directed against those humans whom god judges to be incorrigibly wicked.
his war will be selective in destruction.
" which gives a somewhat less violent picture than what has been presented for years and years.. is this new light a change in the perception of how armageddon will be brought about or is it just pandering to the ignorant masses so as to not reveal the true belief that they're all doomed to destruction?.

"Everybody Loves Raymond" just happens to be my favorite show. Funny thing, though, I didn't watch one single episode until it had already went into sydication.

Jehovah's Witnesses can celebrate Christmas now!
by sacolton in... birthdays too!.
well, not yet, but if the governing body decides that it's okay to celebrate christmas and birthdays .... how do you suppose the typical jw would feel ... especially those who lived their whole life being told to not celebrate and.
wishing they could?.

As much as the GB flip flops on major teachings, I don't see the premise your teaser thread title ever happening--that would be too radical even by jw standards. Just my two cents...

Was Jesus really without sin?
by Terry inhe violated the sabbath law and he saved a condemned woman from being stoned in compliance with the law.. does it matter he had scruples and self-justifying theological arguments?.
would those arguments have saved anybody else from being put to death?.
technically speaking (the letter of the law) could we truly speak of jesus as really without sin?.

MrsJones' Mother wants to have her cake...
by mrsjones5 inand eat it too.. ok today i'm getting ready to take my husband to an appointment and i check my iphone, which had been charging, low and behold i have a call from my mother.
i call her back and she says what she wasn't calling for any particular reason but then goes on the mention that my sister had called earlier and wished her a happy birthday and even though she doesn't celebrate birthdays she was quite pleased that my sister did call and acknowledged her birthday.
i told my dear mother that it had crossed my mind to call her to day because of her birthday but since she doesn't celebrate it i thought it would be more prudent not to call today but to wait til tomorrow as that i would not offend.

Just my two cents, but I think you did the right thing in deciding not to call her with happy birthday wishes, mrs. jones. But, your title thread suggests that you have real issues with her. Whatever grudge or animosity you are holding toward her, I say let it go. If she takes the initiative to call you, I say view it as an opportunity to re establish a relationship/and or communication. Just because you two don't agree on religion doesn't mean you cannot have a good relationship...

With the hardliners in control right now, it's sounds plausible to me.

VERY BAD NEWS...my son is going to Bethel............
by oompa ini can not describe the sadness of hearing him tell me, i asked him to think about what a great part time job he has, with free schooling.
he says they will probably take him back.
his abilities are suitable for closing down brooklyn, so at least he will be there (i love nyc).

Going to Bethel and seeing the power/class structure, all the politics, being told things like," until you're here five years, you're really not considered part of the 'family'", and the absolute idol worship of the gb members, other heavyweights, and their wives--all this was a real eye-opener to me.
