There was an old lady in our KH and she died and left her house in her will to the Watchtower. This was about 5 years ago, an average UK properties in the West Yorkshire UK then might have been worth in the region of 50 thousand pounds.

Massive donations to the WTS
by greendawn inhave any of you or people that you know such as relatives or friends, made a very significant donation to the wts?
by that i mean property, or money in excess of let's say $10 000. .
enriching an already very rich organisation has to be moronic, they are the ones that should be helping the poor among them the proverbial orphans and widows.

I came to a realization just now, how about you?
by return visitor ini have been inactive now for over a half a year, and i am just now realizing that there was not one thing i enjoyed about being a witness.
i enjoyed my friends and association with witnesses, and still do.
but i didn't enjoy one thing that we were supposed to do, not one.

I agree it was all just boring superficial crap; meetings, assemblies, field service etc. The only thing i feel i really benefited from in my 6 years of being at witless was overcoming my fear of public speaking. By being a member of the Theocrapic Ministry School doing talks once a month/every six weeks for all that time made me a confident speaker.
Well thankyou very much Watchtower.

Hot Peppers

I love em aswell pal especially the red ones. The green ones arent bad either or Jalepreno peppers are nice aswell (but not quite as hot). The only trouble is the next day after eating a load of em your arse is on fire.

Speculating on grounds for divorce
by journey-on inwith the new kool-aid edition of the wt coming out in a few months, i think we are going to see some real changes in the wts...(duh, ya' think?).
i think they may use apostasy as scriptural grounds for divorce.
i think there are scriptures that could be twisted to support this.

I agree with you, theres a definite possiblity of this happening. Such is their ever growing fear of people against their beliefs especially ones who were once members of their Org.
As a further extension of their fear of 'Apostates' i still think that their going to one day put a 'ban' on internet use for their members (as previously mentioned in a thread i started up the other day). I know a lot of you disagree with me but i think that this is the way things will develop in the near future.

Do you ever fear that they will kill you?
by NYer Girl ini've heard the jws referred to on this site mostly as a cult.
as such, am i the only one who fears that one day the society will tell them to eliminate all of us who have been deemed apostates?
i can think of several of my old "friends" who would not hesitate to take me out.

Does anybody think the WBTS will ever 'ban' the internet?
by lfcviking inlets face it the wbts have an ever increasing fear & paranoia of x-jw websites like this forum where the wbts is exposed for all its dodgy business and people can find out things about the goings on with its members, its leaders & embarassing history of cock ups.
one day in a desperate attempt to put a tighter control on this they might make it an official 'ungodly act' to go online and put it in the same category as a 'secret sin' such as smoking or watching porn films.. any opinions on this anybody???.

I Tried To Be a Righteous Dub, but What Do I Do Now?
by R.F. inthe topic question has to do with the fact that i tried to be the best jw i could be, which resulted to me distancing myself from certain relatives because they weren't jws themselves.. these relatives i speak of are my cousins.
most of them are my age, and they are actually a pretty good bunch with their heads on straight, not being the scary, creepy, evil people that the wts makes nondubs out to be.
as we all know however, if they aren't "in the truth", they aren't worthy of your company.. the thing now is, i obviously don't believe a thing the wts says anymore and i want to get closer to my relatives.

I had the exact same problem as you mate. I distanced myself from my relatives and avoided association with them as much as possible because of the Borgs teachings of non JW's. The thing i did years later when i left the Borg was i felt it would be a good idea to get it in the open and admit i made a mistake and was led astray. Being led astray happens in life, it happens to a lot of us and any reasonable person will understand this, as long as you are sincere with your words when explaining this you hopefully should win your relatives back and you can then continue to enjoy your natural family relationships again.
Good luck pal
