Well i live in nearby Norway, and there is absouloutely no sign of anything like that happeneing here.

for me, my life as a jehovah's witness was tiring, depressing & miserable.
surrounded by negativity i felt utterly supressed & unhappy.

In fact the only reason why i haven't been disfellowshipped/dissasociated is because how this would affect my family members, otherwise i would been well and truly clean and clear of this horrible cult.

aren't those that are unable to accept the system's contradictions and absurdities promised suffering and eventual destruction as punishment for their disbelief?.
Yes, threats and use of fear seem to be an effective way of keeping everyone in order and obedient. When you combine this by offering an added reward for such obedience (such as a heavenly paradise), this makes it yet more effective still.
The same can be said for other religions aswell that use this fear/threat message, it's not just solely used by 'Christian' groups.
