Honestly, I don't pray to God everyday. I pray regularly. My faith in God has never wavered, especially during troubled times.

Have you ever thought about the thousands of dollars of lost earnings?
One sister told me there won't be a need for a nurse in the new system. I told her there won;t be a need for a bunch of secretaries either.

I just graduated with my BS in May. I keep thinking I am fifteen years late. Now I'm in grad school. I had to strongarm my daughter into transferring from a two year college to an out of state four year university. She now thanks me. The friends gave a hard time when I was working on my two year degree in the 90s.
The WTBTS opposes college because they fear anyone who thinks for himself.

My daughter kept telling me she wasn't ready to be baptized. Now, I'm glad she didn't get baptized. Joining any organization should not be done out of fear or to pleae people. Stay true to yourself.

"New Light" Not Waking People Up !!!
by AlphaOmega ini have absolutely no idea how to get through to some people.... i mentioned the 1935 change to a jw, and told him that i'd seen the change coming... it was a logical progression, not a revelation from god to the fds.... his response ?.
"i've also had changes revealed to me before the fds makes the change, it just goes to show that jehovah reveals it to his people and that the witnesses have the truth.".
aaaaargh !!!!.

I do think people reach a plateau of beliefs and that's why I didn't understand the significance of the flip-flop on blood a few years ago. Last October, I discovered the flip-flop regarding blood fractions and started doing research. A light went on in mind that let me know the WTS does not have the authority to tell me what to believe. I didn't even attended the meeting that discussed the article in the km because I was disgusted.
I think many people are brain-numbed and believe they are just responsible for themselves. The fear of armageddon and disfellowshiping keep them from thinking for themselves.

The issue is control
by CHILD inafter over 18 years in the organiation, i finally grew up.
as a grown up, i am able to make my own decisions and take responsibility for what i believe.
the flip-flopping of the wts is dangerous to itself.

After over 18 years in the organiation, I finally grew up. As a grown up, I am able to make my own decisions and take responsibility for what I believe. The flip-flopping of the WTS is dangerous to itself. How many people have grown sick and tired of its controlling ways? of the hypocrisy? of having to toe the party line? I knew not to voice my opinion but to parrot what was I was told.
I think God for this board because I am only now researching the WTS history. I'm discovering things I wish I'd learned when I was studying. Now I am beginning to think for myself but I know I'm still programmed to think the Watchtower way.

feelings of guilt
by confused and lost inas some of you are aware i am in the early stages of doubting the wts as the only channel of truth.however i am assailed by feelings of guilt.am i being seduced by the words of disgruntled witnesses or ex-witnesses or am i truly doubting !
!maybe some of you felt this way in the early stages of your "defection" from the wts.sometimes i feel as though i am rejecting god and his organization but other times i feel so strongly that the wts has misled me and is acting to control my "loyalty" by vieled threats of destruction at armageddon.you see prior to becoming a jw i had no religious affiliations.i knew nothing about the bible or god.so for 20 yrs i have only known watchtower teachings and un-learning 20yrs of this is making me so indesicive.am i doing the right thing or not ?
my only solace is prayer.i have prayed to god to show me in some way what the truth really is.i must admit that these prayers have been the most heartfelt i have ever said.have others felt this way and if so how did they deal with it ?i would truly appreciate some feedback.

I was baptized in 1988 at age of 22. The last time I went to a meeting was summer, 2006. I'd had doubts in the past, but persuaded myself to wait on Jehovah. Since I'd returned to college, everyone thought I was weak. I talked with the elders and said I was busy and planned on making the meetings. One day at work, I read the bible online. I noticed the scriptures didn't correlate with the scriptures in the NWT. I printed the scriptures and when I arrived home, compared them with my bible. That's when I really started doubting.
As was stated, read Crisis of Conscience and start researching the history of the organization. Use the KJV or any version other than NWT. Pray for holy spirit to guide you on your quest. Tell no one of your suspicions.

jgnat,
How long has your husband been a JW? Do you observe him reading the bible by itself or only with a book or magazine?
Don't be surprised to discover many Witnesses already know these stories. I aware of them. Witnesses may not agree with your interpretation of these stories but any JW who's been baptized at least 5 years, attends 5 meetings a week and does personal bible study would know this information. Most people are so busyworking, caring for families, field ministry and preparing for the meetings, I wonder how many read their bible regularly?
