Funny how theWTS encourages people to turn aside from their religious beliefs but tries to imprison people once they become affiliated with the organization.

Recently disfellowshipped prominent Assembly overseer in Western Europe now speaking out against the Watchtower org.
by the research lady informer elder, and assembly overseer roberto from france will be joining barbara and joe anderson on tonight's conference call, july 18,2009. roberto was disfellowshipped in june 2009 and after many faithful years of service is now joining thousands of others who are speaking out against the evils of the watchtower organization.
our call tonight will be focused on how the country of france, as well as other european countries are investigating jehovah's witnesses.
the watchtower organization is experiencing difficulties in these countries for the inhumane treatment and exerting too much control over people's lives.

Anybody remember a QFR on JW nurses tattling on blood transfusions?
by Open mind ini've looked on jwn (first) and watchtower library (second) and can't find a questions from readers that i thought i remembered from the 70s or 80s.
maybe it wasn't actually a qfr.
anyway, the gist of the question was, what does a conscientious jw nurse do when, in the course of her duties, she becomes aware of a fellow jw who is accepting a blood transfusion or getting an abortion.

I remmember this article and knew I would never be a snitch and tell the elders. Every healthcare employee knows the HIPPA law and knows the consequences of breaking the law. I was a nurse for 2 years before I became comfortable enough to administer blood products. My supervisor made it clear I had to demonstrate knowledge of how to care for a patient receiving blood and know the hospital's policy. I cared for my patients and would ask a fellow nurse to administer the blood while I performed some unpleasant task for that nurse. I look back now and realize how brainwashed I was. I also realize I worked with a wise and mature nurse manager who understood my immaturity. A nurse is taught to be objective and nonjudgemental and support the client's wishes. We care for people when they are vulnerable. Betraying a patient's privacy betrays the trust a patient places in a nurse or other person caring for him (her).

We Were Just Shunned By A Old Friend Who Was Just D'FD Herself For..
by Lady Liberty inhi friends.... just went to the grocery with my husband and about ran right into a old friend of ours that i have known since we lived in a little one horse town in minnesota when i was in 2nd grade, (32 years ago!!).
i looked at her and she immediately turned her head but kept trying to peak at my husband and i two lanes away through the magazines.
i waited for her to look at me and when she finally did and had eye contact , i started to smile a friendly smile at her and she looked away quickly.

restrangled,as a nurse I am sorry that happened to you. The nurse should not have treated in a way that made you feel like you were a hostage. We are not trained to treat clients in that manner. Your blood pressure must have have been very high. She should have talked with you calmly and tried to get you to relax. Instead you became very upset and panicked and that made the blood pressure reading worse.

Black Families & Shunning
by snowbird inafter reading password's blog on freeminds, and following the thread about the 7/09 awake, i am saddened to hear the experiences of so many who have been shunned by their families.. i confess that when i first started reading at this site - 8 years ago - i couldn't believe what i was seeing.
i knew that df'd persons were to be excluded from any spiritual interaction, but i'd never personally witnessed the extreme shunning that the society encourages.. i've often mentioned that this seldom happens in black families.
of course, i have no statistical evidence to back this up, but i have yet to see a family in my area practice this kind of shunning.

St. Ann, this is what makes me ill about this cult. The brainwashing is so strong! Loyalty to the Society = loyalty to Jehovah. The lack of love is what drives many to leave. These are the fruit of this cult.

It definitely depends on the family. My parents (non-JWs) taught us to alway look out for your family. I met people in field service who complained of JWs not attending funerals of family members. It's considered unloving and disrespectful to Black families and I'm sure families of other cultures.
I belonged to a predominant Black congregation. One sister told me the elders did not aprove of her living with her DF'd brother. His wife was dead and she helped him raie his young children. I met JWs who shunned and those who secretly spoke with DF'd ones. It really dos depend on the degree of indoctrination and brainwashing.

Family Worship Night Rule.....
by sweet pea in.
i have it on good authority that at the recent circuit assembly it was announced from the platform that there had been reports of groups of families and friends getting together to study on family worship night and that this was not to continue as fwn is for families only and not for other brothers and sisters to get involved in.. oh, and if you live alone, then you have to study on your own, you alone are your family, you are not to join anyone else's fwn (although i'm sure they didn't mean you couldn't join your blood family's fwn....).
the level of control never ceases to amaze me...... .

I remember a group of us single JWs used to study together (we had no family members in the borg). We were told we had to stop because it like having another meeting.

Revelation Climax - book study question
by Roddy indoes anyone know how many times the revelation climax book (which was released in 1988) was studied in the congregation book study program up to now?.
in addition to how many times, if you know the years it was studied that would be helpful.
thanks.. .

I remember the revisions also. I was very disturbed by changes in the blood doctrine as published in October 2006 Kingdom Ministry. I kept thinking to myself, "the truth does not change."

Has your " Self Esteem " Improved After Leaving Jehovah's Witnesses ?
by flipper init seems to be an issue that some have after leaving the witness cult because none of us were ever made to feel we were " good " enough or "valued " enough for what we were trying to accomplish in the cult.
growing up i had pounded into my head by my jw elder father what jesus said, " after doing all things remember you are good for nothing slaves , what we have done is what we ought to have done.
" then i thought to myself - " where's the joy in that ?
