Can I Disassociate myself from this site?

hi guys and galls,.

i have been a happy member for a few weeks now and have just figured out that this site is owned and monitored by the borg.. everytime i land on the homepage there is an advert from google inviting me to betheltours.

from my limited online advertiding experience i reckon that 3% of the 400,000 daily users click on this advert.

Specific banned shows, songs, etc...?

i know the society tells people not to listen to rock n roll cause its from teh satan, not to watch r rated movies because they're "worldly", etc.

but i was wondering if folks had any specific instances where one song, one show, one movie, or whatever was singled out as being particularly 'evil', and banned on an individual basis?

i was never a jw, but was in the worldwide church of god...the two are rather similar, i've seen many (and made quite a few myself) comparisons on the board; and i can remember as a child that every once in a while certain things would get brought up as being more evil and worldly than others.. examples of specific bans:.

I know of Bethelites that would go to tape duplication, grab blank Kingdom Melodies cassette shells, open them up, and transfer their "heavy metal" cassette tape into them. Then they could listen to their favorite music while running the press. Yep, they got caught....guess the head banging motion doesn't quite match the kingdom melodies...

I suppose with singers you should store their albums in a hidden place in case they are reinstated.

It depends on the mental weakness/strength of the readers. With the younger generations they stand no chance.

607 to 1914 calculation question

is there any culture that actually used years of 360 days length?

if so, surely there would still be some kind of leap year to correct the calendar, why is that not taken into account?

i'd never thought about it when i was a dub because you're not supposed to think!

It is my understanding that Russell was aware of that fact, and while he was prepared to move his expectations from 1914 to 1915, he adamantly held to his 606 BCE date for Jerusalem's destruction.

It would be great to have some material on this point.

I also recommend Finegan handbook of biblical chronology. It is available at amazon.com

i cannot imagine this has a fragment of truth... has anyone heard about this?
