Welcome to Apostate College!
Let's design courses that we can offer to be in line with Dubs views of apostates.
I formally offer:
Weeping
Yes, you are gone. It's upsetting to finally realize it, but you are no longer an active witness. While outside you think that it's like a huge burden lifted off your shoulders, eventually you will have to face the facts that you will never be able to go back to the congregation. A good session on weeping is in order and this is the course for you! At the end you will be able to bawl your eyes out at your sad plight. Advanced weepers have been known to rip their clothes apart and throw dust in the air. If you feel that weeping can be your strong point, I'd suggest not dusting your home so you will have a good supply for when you graduate.
Gnashing
This is usually offered in conjunction with the Weeping course. Once outside in the darkness you will need to Gnash your teeth. What is this Gnashing, and how can you get started? Excellent questions that this course intends to demonstrate.
Advanced Gnashing (optional)
Not satisfied with ordinary gnashing? Let a certified orthodontist show you the particulars on how to gnash without requiring costly dental work.
Stumbling in darkness
Cast out from the light you no longer are affected by the divine strobe light of enlightenment. Now you will need to learn to stumble around. This is what happens when you try to move. With this course you can give the appearance of stumbling around even when it is light out. Passing witnesses will marvel at the wreck you have become.
Anyone else care to add to the offering?

Fallacy of the "Light gets brighter" Teaching
by rassillon inthis is by no means a complete discussion of the subject but i will start it with my thoughts and i hope those smarter than me will contribute.. the wt teaches that the changes in doctrine and their understanding of the scriptures over the years is because as we get nearer the end of this system the "light gets brighter" or god allows(?
) a better understanding.
this is based off the scripture proverbs 4:18 which states.

I think C.T Russel said it best here:
Zion's Watch Tower, Feb, 1881, p.3
If we were following a man undoubtedly it would be different with us; undoubtedly one human idea would contradict another and that which was light one or two or six years ago would be regarded as darkness now; But with God there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning, and so it is with truth; any knowledge or light coming from God must be like its author. A new view of truth never can contradict a former truth. "New light" never extinguishes older "light," but adds to it... -

They make mistakes just like 1st century christians did.
by GBSJG inwhen i'm discussing problems i have with the wts with my family they often say well they make mistakes just like the early christians did, they are not perfect.. i try to argue that if you think that way you can go to any christian church and say the same.
but usually they say that compared to other religions the wts makes less mistakes so you should go there.. i know that such reasoning doesn't make sense to me but what is a good response to this?.

Ask them what happened to the first century Christians.
The answer is, they eventually got swallowed up in apostasy and faded away.
This was an organization that had first hand knowledge of Jesus and the apostles were still performing powerful works in his name and yet due to human governing they were corrupted.
Ask them if they think the first century Christians realized they were being led astray, then pull the parallel to the Organization today.
Given the mistakes in interpretation and the changing of teachings, what would be a more accurate statement:
God has selected the Witnesses as his own people but does not assist in the creation of spiritual food.
or
The Witnesses are constantly refining their teachings to try to be in line with what they think God would expect out of an organization.
Any person that doesn't follow the Governing Body's own imperfect interpretation of the scriptures has and will continue to be expelled from the congregation for "the safety of the flock". Even though that very teaching may change in the future to be in line with the expelled person's concerns.
If this person is stumbled, who is blood guilty? The Elders or the Governing Body? Or does Jehovah make exceptions for those that prune his flock for the sake of the greater good?
If they desire to return after the change of teaching takes place, they are not welcomed back and offered an apology. No, rather they must apologize themselves and beg for forgiveness for questioning the incorrect teaching. They are to be shunned until forgiveness is granted.
Does this sound like teachings that Jehovah would be proud of? Or does it sound more like the Pharasies who presumed to know God's will? -

My question would be:
When matters are put up for a vote, who's decision is Jehovah directing? -

So long, and thanks for all the kids...
by Paralipomenon ini recently remembered this jw rumor that went circulating around when i was younger.
two sisters call on a door in service and is confronted by an obviously demon possessed individual.
(the details always changed, floating lamps, speaking in tongues, the usual folklore) sensing a disturbance in the force the younger sister leaves but the older pioneer sister stays determined to give her witness.

(the details always changed, floating lamps, speaking in tongues, the usual folklore) Sensing a disturbance in the force the younger sister leaves but the older pioneer sister stays determined to give her witness.
The demon possessed person then tells the old pioneer sister that they (demonic hordes) are focusing their attention on the witness children. When asked why, the response is "Your God killed our children with the flood, we intend to take your children with us at Armageddon."
I had totally forgot about this one but remembered it when someone mentioned that eventually nobody over the age of 18 would get baptized. No doubt this will be faith strengthening to all the parents that shun their children that they are living in the time of the end.
Did anyone else remember this story, or was this a local legend? -

Usually I'd go right at the end of the song between the meetings. The people with legitimate bladder concerns would be clearing out and I could stay to chat with my friends until they'd send someone in to see what the noise was/what was taking so long.

I finally bought it and read it last month.
I was very impressed at some of the details about how the GB operates. But it seems that people treat it like the "apostate's bible". I agreed that there is alot of damning evidence in there about corruption in their decisions but Ray was very much a part of the whole thing as well.
He pushed for the GB to gain control of the WTBTS corporation so that they could make decisions and then complained that no one person had the authority to effect change so the majority ruled. The Governing Body is on auto pilot now, the blind leading the blind and that is a blessing and curse.
A blessing in that their inflexibility is killing the organization and that is the curse as well. This same inflexibility continues to divide families and kill their followers.
So I can say that I enjoyed the book, but as with everything that I learned from leaving the WTS you need to be critical about what you read and decide for yourself. -

Label the act for returning to JWism for family only (e.g. Gumby)
by UnConfused ini think it's a deserving act of love to make the sacrifice to rejoin a cult in order to stay connected to your family.
it's putting your love of your family over so so many things.
what could we call it so we could easily understand someone's actions who also does this?

Unless we need to stick to the "Gumby" theme. I think "Re-Dubbing" was pretty clever.

Nosferatu's School of Dating - Lesson 2.2 - Building Rapport
by Nosferatu insince many have commented that lesson 2.1 has "no feeling", portrays the individual as an abuser, and all the other negative comments, i decided to cover rapport next.. the unfortunate thing is i can only give you tips on how to build good rapport.
i will not be giving you magic lines that will make her fall in love with you.
it's your own personality, your enthusiasm, your wit, your sense of humor, your creativeness, and your imagination that has to do the actual work.. many people will tell you "forget about all these tips, tricks and techniques.

Most of this stuff is targeted towards the 18-24 age and directed to interactions in clubs. In this setting, yes it does work very well. I don't have any hard statistics, but from personal experience I used most of these suggestions in my younger clubbing years with great success.
