Well, they did fake the article. I don't often agree w/ WAC, but hell, they've faked food and toy safety for quite awhile. I wouldn't put it past them. And, no, I don't mean the "Chinese people" I mean their govt.
Or maybe it was simply that journalist. That's been known to happen at reputable papers in the U.S.

I would suggest that you do not do anything at this stage. Say very little at the elders meeting and do not admit to any wrongdoing. As you already recognise, this is a cult and you owe the elders nothing. So there is no point saying how you feel about the doctrine or any behaviour that you have done that they may feel is wrong. Give yourself time to sort yourself out. Also, allow time for your parents to come to terms with you not being a good JW. It will be easier than it all coming to a head at once.
You will need to learn to cope with knowing that you are not acceptable to your parents but there is nothing you can do about them approving of you for as long as they stay a JW.
jwfacts-- this sounds spot on for where I am at, with both my JW and non-JW family.
thebiggestlie-- Take in all the different viewpoints presented and weigh them in with your own gut, because only you know the particular nuances of your own precious circumstances. Best of luck to you in sorting it all out.

almost all posts he authors are conspiracy laden. That's a pattern, and not a healthy one.
Forgive me, LDH-- I have to laugh at this one. That's the nature of conspiracy theories--i.e., pattern recognition--and here you are, pointing out a pattern in a manner that almost seems conspiratorial in its suspicious tone. Poking fun in good humor, btw.
I remember seeing on some cable documentary program, when they were about to describe global weather patterns and corresponding geographic shifts, that the announcer said that the kind of thinking the researchers use to recognize and sort through all this stuff (i.e., pattern recognition) is the same as that used in conspiracy theories--only this involves weather patterns instead of human politics.
That said, I've read none of WAC's theories in particular--but not all theories are bunk (or even about conspiracy).

I didn't answer your phone calls either, but it doesn't mean I'm conspiracy-minded. Maybe it means WAC and I were having lunch together, excluding you and Aude and Confession...together. 'Course, I didn't get any phone calls from you--and I haven't met WAC--but I don't think that has anything to do with it. yesterday i went to the saturday segment of the two day circuit assembly.
the brother giving the talk wanted to make sure that all in attendance understood clearly what the watchtower's definition of "higher education" was.

Why slam doctors and lawyers?
Actually, what I've heard them say (both from the platform and on the side) is that we won't need any doctors, or lawyers, or accountants, etc. in the New System--so all those years of schooling toward those careers now will have been wasted then, since in the paradise these types of jobs will be obsolete. They've also pointed out (on the side) that what will be needed are clean-up and construction crew, to clean up all the rubble after the destruction of the ungodly men and this wicked system of things. Only Jehovah's Witnesses, of course, and those who actively support them now will be left standing to clear away the debris of 'Satan's old system of things.'
