  i'm new - help me

  i originally began my communications thorugh freeminds which i found thru google - one of the writers for freeminds suggested this forum.

  i hope that i will find some ansers thru you.

  I have to say I am on this forum to learn but have gleaned a lot of information over the past handful of months.

  While some of these jw's may be very nice, they are in a cult that has controlled their minds and every social aspect of their lives. They may be very nice to you but I imagine their real motive is to insure you know the 'truth'. While they may be genuine in their faith, their message is far from the truth.

  I suggest reading the stories of those on this forum. Stories of broken hearts, broken families and broken lives. It has taken these people years to heal from the wounds they have expereinced as a direct result of the control the wts has on their friends and families, and even the control they once had on their own minds and lives.

  If you continue a relationship with this man, you are most likely headed down the same path.

  My suggestion is to remain a friendly distance. He's been baptised, he's 'in' now and shouldn't be dating a 'worldly' woman.

  Hello again,

  I am sorry about your dilemna. It is always hard when something like this effects your relationship with your immediate family, especially your children.

  I guess the best advice I can offer you as a fellow believer is to continue practicing 'handing it over' to the Lord. He completely understands your heartache and will be the only real source of deep rooted comfort. The kind of comfort that the Bible speaks about. You know, the peace that surpasses all understanding.

  Your children will see the Holy Spirit in you, something vastly different that what they are being taught in their congregation. Pray that God will be a light shining through you and that your children will note a difference in you from who you were before you were saved.

  I don't know that you need to be 'daddy evangelist' either. If they ask questions, share from your heart. Otherwise, let God do the work.

  Also, have you ever considered fasting in prayer? You may want to take this opportunity and learn more about that if you don't know much about it.

  If your girls come to visit you, I have a great family resort in Southwest WA that they would love. It's A LOT of fun here in the summer time and I can try to give you a great rate!

  Holidays

  i am a former jw, but i still believe what they do about the holidays?

  i have already talked about origins and all that stuff so i wanted to ask something without bringing up scriptual or historical backgrounds for a change.. my question is (whatever your beliefs may be) what % of people who celebrate christmas, if you took the presents out of christmas would still acknowledge christmas as much as they do now?

  As an adult, I don't GET presents anymore...WHAH! But, I still celebrate because I believe in the birth of Christ and recongnizing that day as a day of celebration.

  The presents are merely a cultural aspect of the holiday. Even without the gifts, I'd still celebrate with family and those I love.

  i think my head is a little messed up from my recent relationship with a man who is a jw.

  i attended a few meetings and bible studies with an older woman who i met at the first meeting.

  i am not going to become a jw because i can't give up holidays and birthdays, but i do have a few questions.

  The JW's are a social cult and are not doctrinally sound. Over the years they have changed their doctrine and hidden the many false prophecies. It's sad to see innocent people get sucked up into this trap. Stay here, you'll see how this cult has effected all these people's lives.

  i was born in 1965, the same year that malcolm x was assassinated.

  my father had committed suicide a few months into my mother's pregnancy so we lived with her parents until she married again when i was about 18 months old.

  You seem to have gone all over the board with practicing religions from all across the spectrum.

  From the jw's to wicca, pagan stuff? Amazing.

  Then on to worshipping with the more liberal sector of the Christian camp.

  And now Islam. In some ways you've come full circle. Islam's view of women and the intense necessity to pray 5 times a day gives me the chills. You seemed to have stepped right back into a religion that doesn't allow you to breathe.
