  What happens AFTER baptism?

  my friend is getting baptised sometime in april.

  i have lots of questions.. first of all, she willing inquired about some christian books i have and is currently reading them.

  both have to do with purity but i am sure she would notice some theological differences when she reads them.

  We've discussed the issues of shunning and I always tell her personal stories of people in my own church body that have done something BIG but how we come along side them and help them through their issues. For instance, one of the engaged 19 yr olds in my Bible Study just found out she is pregnant. I shared with her the general take on it:

  Okay, so she got caught. Embarassing? Maybe, but lets stand by her as she approaches her wedding day and celebrate with her. So she had sex. Lot's of people do outside of marriage. Is it right? No, not according to the Christian faith. But let's not throw stones at the couple and ditch them. There's a lot of growing that will take place through the circumstance and turning our backs on her is hurtful.

  I communicate these types of things (as there have been many situations over the years) and she always agrees. But, she still shuns people. Hmmmm.....

  I have to be careful because she is a new employee.

  Is the baptism kind of an impersonal experience? Is it just a matter of formality and lots of people are getting baptized?

  Also, do you personally recall being aware told that the wts is the voice of God? When I said this to her she kind of shook her head, almost as if she didn't agree with it in the same way that I was intending it to be meant.

  First of all, she willing inquired about some Christian books I have and is currently reading them. Both have to do with purity but I am sure she would notice some theological differences when she reads them.

  Second, she mentioned getting baptized at some sort of assembly. Is this commonly done in the masses?

  We were discussing differences and I said that the jw's believe that the wts is like the voice of God. She looked confused when I said that. ISN'T THAT TRUE? Do they just not teach here that until AFTER she is baptized....to the fullest extent?

  Things you find in a womens purse??

  Is speaking in tongues for Christians today, and what is it?

  the watchtower claims speaking in tongues was restricted to the first century, though it seems quite clear that this was something to be practiced in the last days.

  should christians today speak in tongues and what exactly is it?

  i am wondering about the reasoning as some christian religions practice it and others don't.

  I believe many churches today seek after this gift as it is a "showy" gift.

  I have always been curious but do not have the gift of tongues.

  However, I spoke in tongues one time about 15 years ago. I was by myself praying because I just found out some information from the dentist than my front tooth way dying and I had to have a root canal. On top of that, I had one continuous problem that was not getting resolved and it cause me great discomfort.

  So, I began to pray and like a mighty rushing from behind, I felt tingling as if I was being hugged by God Himself and I just began praying in tongues really fast. It was effortless, certainly wasn't from me at all and I wanted to keep praying like that.

  Had absolutely NO idea what I was saying, but I started out praying for my situation.
  
  It was awesome.

  Has never happened since that day.

  Reparative therapy??

  i know this is a long shot, as the jw cult was always reluctant to allow their members to seek therapy outside of the religion.. .

  for those that have been keeping up on my latest revelation, you know that i have been confused sexually.

  what im wanting to know is if anyone here has been through gay reparative therapy, what were the benefits?

  Please don't get me wrong, I am in no way suggesting that going to church, reading the Bible and prayer is a big bandaid. Surrounding ourselves with people who are going to offer us encouragement and sound advice.

  My friend/employee just quit her job here. She wrote me a letter, left early that day and never informed to may face that she would not be coming back.

  She said she is going to school f/t and her schedule would not allow here to work. She was only working 2 days a week, yet she is putting in 50 hrs of service a month.

  I spoke with her this a.m. and confronted her on her lack of courtesy as a friend as well as an employee. I shared with her that I was disappointed but that I didn't at all base our friendship on whether or not she was an employee here and that I certainly would not hold this against her in any way shape or form.

  Her depression pills aren't working for her and I'm really concerned. I think she is running herself in the dirt for everyone else and doesn't have a life of her own.

  Now that she isn't an employee I have a bit more freedome to speak with her without the legality.
