I am glad you are bringing this man to account for hurting you. You have to be a strong person to do this. It uncovers the dark thinking of the JWs that they don't understand how wrong their actions are to hide their crimes from the public.

Not willing to cooperate
by happy@last injust thought i would let you know there appears to still be no change when it comes to assisting the police here in the uk.
i am in the process of pressing charges against my abuser who was and is again a jw.
during my interviews with the police i did not mention jws as it was not relevant to the case, however during one if his interviews he stated that he had been 'punished' by the jws by being disfellowshipped, and now he was a jw again he had 'paid his dues'!.

Head covering for women--how did you feel about this? Men? Women?
by humbled inthinking about how this felt awkward to some of us women when a bible student noticed something was "up" if a baptised brother sat in on a study.
had to reference 1 cor.
11:1-16.. i wonder if this irked any while you were still in?.

How much hair do we women need to be "covered", Legacy? Strippers wear pasties and a g-string. There's alot of latitude to the subject of what-covers-what.
I have always wondered why the scripture at 1 Cor. 11:16 is not understood to allow that there should not be any hard-and-fast rule to head covering.
In 1 Cor. 7 Paul in four different places says whether or not what he says is a command (v. 6) or whether the idea is from him not the LORD (v. 12), his opinion (v. 25, 40) .
So why should we take anything Paul says as "gospel" if we choose to believe the bible at all?
Paul himself says so often that he is not speaking for "the Lord"--so why don't Christians believe him?
This is shameful, to make women continue as a child under her own male child. He grows up but she never does.
A slave could become free but never a woman. Under this religion, under this kind of control, a woman never gets to have freedom.

My Mom is in the hospital
by JeffT inmy mother broke her hip last week.
she had an emergency partial replacement surgery friday night.
we don't know how she did it as we have caregivers with her at all times, she may have fallen while in the bathroom for a few minutes.

Hey, Jeff,
How old is your mom? Is she easy to talk to?
Yes, things can happen so quickly. If she doesn't like her caregivers "shadowing" her ---as when in the bathroom---things happen. I care for a woman with advanced Altheimer's 2x a week. It is a challenge. Some mornings or some days she isn't steady on her feet as at other times. I am careful that her shoes fit properly. Also they put a little rug in the kitchen that I think she has trouble with--so I tell them. But I am not the only one taking care of her. It's a patchwork of care.
It is true that time and unforeseen events do befall us. But we try to take care of each other--she will know you love her. That is always the greatest thing.
Take care,

Confused?
by nomorepain13 ini have been going to meetings since i was a child, long story short only recently i've started taking the truth seriously, i am not baptized but just an unbaptized publisher.
truth is i am so lonely in the congregation.
the other young people in the cong don't like me because they dont think i am going to "stay" for long, i've even worked on the ministry with an older brother and asked her am i giving the wrong impression to people?

To quote one of my children, now 36 years old. "Life is hard--and that's alright. But it should not be miserable."
Do not stay. You do not want a miserable life.
The life you have described can't rise above miserable even if all the WTBTS literature and songs teach you to say otherwise.
You can't rewind, unwind your experience and perceptions of life as a JW. Your desire to serve God will have to contort into a distortion of the gospel to fit into JW life. Don't let yourself get bent that way. Don't marry "in the Truth". Get with a life companion with whom you can share your life honestly.
I don't try to run other people's lives but I want to be clear in this instance: this is spiritual warfare and the WTS will crush your spirit. Leave the religion and find your life.

I'm not trying to brag, but being an EXJW is awesome!!! Status Update-
by Coffee House Girl inhello jwn!
i don't get to check in here or comment as often as i would like because i have been working so hard at school...but i just have to share my news in hopes that newbees can see that taking the leap to enroll in higher education is worth it-.
i am graduating this spring with a bachelor degree in art history, minor anthropology...many people (including nonjw's have given me flack for choosing a "dead end" career path) but since leaving the watchtower organization's group-think mentality and "leaning on my own understanding" instead... i decided to say fuck everyone else's opinion...i am going to pursue my passion to work in a museum as a curator or archivist-.
