You can run but you can't hide. Not only is the WT a small org who likes to meddle in other peoples business and talk about people who ae in the their congr. left the congr, died or whatever, but the whole world for that matter is small. You are only putting off the inevitable. "Oh the tangled web we weave when we SEEK to decieve". Come clean and let the cards fall where they may. You will feel better about yourself, no fun going through life like you are on Foxes "Most Wanted". Stop looking over your shoulder and look straight ahead, be ________ with yourself, be strong and you will feel better that you are not living a lie. Sorry for that blank spot, fill it in as you need. Only the best of wishes.

HELP! Trying to convince my parents I am going to meetings!
by stillAwitness ina few weeks ago i posted about about how my parents have been asking about wether or not my card has been sent to my "new congregation" since i moved out in july.
up until now, i have been stalling not knowing wether or not i wanted to just come out and say "i have not been going to meetings" or not take any action at all.
well someone left an interesting piece of advice on my thread that i have been contemplating doing.that maybe, perhaps i should just have my card sent to a congregation that isn't anywhere near the actual city i live in.

Isn't obesity a difilement of the flesh?

it was probably the second most common reason aside from fornication and adultrey.

Now that is funny, if you can laugh at that. Many though should go to help clubs, it would be a better way to spend their time, I would suggest taking some family members along. About time to get some real family time in instead of sitting there like mutes. Thinking you are spending quality time because someone else who isn't spending quality time with his family is telling you from the platform away from his family.

Thank you Tyrone van, this is the nice thing about the forum, you can give your veiwpoint and don't get judged or looked down for it. Feels good, wished it would have been that way for 22 years of witness living. But it wasn't, as many know what we are all talking about.

I have seen more drinking on KH property, before meetings, quick builts, even in the GB lodgings at Bethel where we stayed as we worked on the site was brought in by other elders who lived there, I have seen more drinking than you can shake a stick at. I look back on the drinking and driving, cursing, elders hooting at women, looking down from the truck seats to see a womans leg or more, stopping at bars. As Gomer Pyle would say "SHAME SHAME SHAME SHAME SHAME" the amount of hypocrisy I have seen would last me a lifetime. But as the song said in "just a good ole boys meaning no harm" that is what has protected so many of them from their own gallows.

If they DF'd according to the scripture in 2 Cor 7 that they use for smoking, you would see the numbers drop dramatically, yes obesity is defilement of the flesh, but you would have to DF them long before that as many who are obese got that way from gluttony which is a form of idolatry and greed according to the witness. Their numbers are not growing as it is, what do want to see, KH for sale?

I thought I did when I was a witness and realize there were times when I think I was close to Jah. The witnesses destroyed my faith for about 2 years, they have completely destroyed my faith in organized religion but now that I have turned to only the Bible, I too believe that we are His Creation, there is more than this life, as I turn to Him in prayer as I read His Word and during my daily life. Now I KNOW that I love Jehovah, no we can't figure out everything, but to me with all this unbelief, harsh fellings and skeptisim in the Bible. The organization is indeed just that, an organization, but not from the true God, who does love us and one day will hold an accountant to those who have stumbled and hurt so many good hearted people.
Matt 18:6,76 and whoever may cause to stumble one of those little ones who are believing in me, it is better for him that a weighty millstone may be hanged upon his neck, and he may be sunk in the depth of the sea. 7 `Wo to the world from the stumbling-blocks! for there is a necessity for the stumbling-blocks to come, but wo to that man through whom the stumbling-block doth come!

Compared mags and other books not much. Eccl 12:12,13 says 12 As regards anything besides these, my son, take a warning: To the making of many books there is no end, and much devotion [to them] is wearisome to the flesh.
13 The conclusion of the matter, everything having been heard, is: Fear the [true] God and keep his commandments. For this is the whole [obligation] of man.
As a Witness for 22 years, a pioneer, MS and then an elder, sad to say I never read the entire Bible, you don't have time as you are so pre-occupied with every other thing besides reading the Bible and finding out who the Author is, now that I have been out for 6 1/2 years and I can say that I read the Bible about 2 times a year and it feels great and my PERSONAL understanding as I see it, has grown immensely. I now pray as the Bible instructs me for wisdom, guidance and understanding that only the HS can provide, never try to be dogmatic about my thoughts and never try and say that I am right. It is what I feel the Creator has shown to me as being right for what I NEED at the time. Give up man made writings and turn to the only source of truth, God's Word. If I am going to err on the side of reading material, it is going to be on the side of the Bible, no condemnation in reading His Word, we are plainly told in multiple places not to turn to men. Made that mistake for 22 years but learned from it, Thank God.

Sunday's public talk about 1914 mentioned 586
by GBSJG inthe public talk of last sunday was about 1914, the last days and the prophecy of daniel.. so the speaker explains how we get to the 2520 years and that jerusalem fell in 607. but after that he must have talked about the 586 date for 5 minutes.
he said that some say the jerusalem fell in 586 instead of 607. but then you would not get to 1914 but 1934 and nothing special happened then.
then he says that jw have published convincing material about why the date must be 607 without mentioning what that material exactly is (he actually said this several times).

The apostle Paul spoke of individuals who would worry about this kind chronology and said this in the Amplified Translation at 1 Tim 1: 3-7
3 As I urged you when I was on my way to Macedonia, stay on where you are at Ephesus in order that you may warn and admonish and charge certain individuals not to teach any different doctrine, 4 Nor to give importance to or occupy themselves with legends (fables, myths) and endless genealogies, which foster and promote useless speculations and questionings rather than acceptance in faith of God's administration and the divine training that is in faith ( [ a ] in that leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence)-- 5 Whereas the object and purpose of our instruction and charge is love, which springs from a pure heart and a good (clear) conscience and sincere (unfeigned) faith. 6 But certain individuals have missed the mark on this very matter [and] have wandered away into vain arguments and discussions and purposeless talk. 7 They are ambitious to be doctors of the Law (teachers of the Mosaic ritual), but they have no understanding either of the words and terms they use or of the subjects about which they make [such] dogmatic assertions.
The constant trying to figure out times and dates has led many to leave the witnesses because of this very fact that Paul spoke of, it has nothing to do with faith and love and salvation. If Christ was humble enough to say he didn't know the day or hour, if we claim to be His followers shouldn't we do the same. If we are his followers, hmmm.

by Tyrone van leyen insomething very unusual happened the other day.

Hmmm, the only records in the NT were to be preserved for mankind to read, perhaps the records of the elders, co's and all the other records really don't mean anything anyway. Even if destroyed, you won't change the minds of the people who follow them, don't expect any real difference in the way you were treated. Hope all turns out well for you in the end, at least with your parents. Never could correlate how you could DF someone and yet still be able to show the love, respect and honor within the family arrangement. The Bible doesnt speak of how to handle a shunned one within the family, so if Jah doesn't speak of it, then maybe he didn't mean for it to happen as the Witnesses do it. That is why Paul said not to go above and beyond the things written.

The good report that the apostles came back with had nothing to do with figures, books, mags or hours, rather the good results of the HS on the preaching in general. Sad how it all is twisted around, God has never been impressed with figures.
