john 6:39 niv "and this is the will of him who sent me, that i shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.
also john 6:37. no mention of jesus only here for the 144,000 or that the fds will be making distinction between those worth saving.
in fact the whole section treats all equally.

for the viewing of those who missed this quotation where elsewhere posted:.
the sole purpose of our existence as a society is to announce.
the kingdom established in 1914 and to sound the warning of.
Not for me to judge anyone(s) motives or motive, even as the quote says "the road to hell is paved with good intentions"
However, the facts and the juror is in,
As Christ said you would be able to recognize those men by their fruitage, failed prophecies or "their interpretations" is better put, broken families, suicide driven by shunning to an unbilical degree, child molestation cases settled and many more on the books, hypocrisy to an unbelievable measure, immorality as any other religion has, judging the whole world of mankind and the job is better suited by God's appointed Son, building wealth beyond our comprehesion, meddling in others lives, distorting Biblical teachings on the "Good News" which is Christ died for us, not a kingdom centered around Kingdom heirs, going above the things written, the list goes on and on.
Dont know what they feel their purpose REALLY IS, but the fruitage speaks louder than words
"Show me a sermon, dont tell me one"

Anyone who is honest with themselves will and can tell story after story of drunkenness in the org.
I worked with "brothers" for over 12 years and witnessed and sad to say at the time seen drunkenness DAILY, I seen DUI/DWI and racing up the road in construction vehicles on a daily basis with alcohol in the trucks, cases of beer drank daily on the job, I seen drunkenness on quick builts, branch sites, Paterson.
I remember being on a cruise with an elder and his wife, he was so toasted he had to crawl to the toilet and our table guest for the week after hearing him and his wife with my ex, preach the "Good News of the Witnesses" saw him board the boat plastered, she covered for him, as he could not make dinner or picture time with his wife. Next week he was giving the part on the SM n local needs, for turning in gross sin.
Drinking to many witnesses is the white area that they turn grey but no one ever turns anyone in for drunkenness b/c of the good ole boy system that they many if not most are guilty of.
Can you imagine how many less witnesses there would be if they pushed for DFing on this, ( a Bible Based ground) compared to smoking and many other witness interpretations.

i hope it worked.
my intent with the title of this thread was to attract both believers and non-believers.
whenever a thread appears promoting the wonders of jesus, it will inevitably develop into a back and forth discussion ad nauseam.. i was born into a family that believed there was a god, he had a son jesus and his word was the bible.
I believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Savior of the world. I believed that before I became a JW. In fact, that is what caused me to leave the JW's. I felt as Mary Magdalene did - that they had taken my Lord away ...
However, I'm leery of those who are always spouting off, "I'm a Christian." The word Christian only appears in the Bible three times. Three!!! A similar occurrence with the word salvation. Our Lord only used the word salvation twice - both times to non-disciples. Can we take a hint or does it have to be a knockdown? It's not about words, it's about actions.
Anyway, before this turns into a full-scale rant, I will end by saying it is my personal opinion that the WTS has done its share of turning quite a few people away from Jesus. Ironic, isn't it?
Sylvia
Well put Sylvia, I agree with you. abr
each time i see jw's in the field service, and they see me, they will wave at me with a big smile as if we are still friends.......but when they aren't doing anything related to jw work, like if i see them at the grocery store, they wlll more or less shun me?.
i was taking a walk earlier, and a few sisters got out of a minivan, and were walking towards a house, and they saw me and waved at me with a big smile.
one of them was an elders wife.. i think that they want to show that they are serving god, and they are saying, "look how spiritual we are dear inactive brother.... .
They were giving a "Waive Offering"

the book study is one of the most useless meetings.
the same books have been studied 3 or 4 times.the meeting takes only an hour but takes up most of your evening.
and, it is one of the least attended meetings.. why haven't they combined the watchtower study with just question and answer and then follow with the book study with just question and answer?
No they have said for your years "we NEED five meetings a week" they have used the hand with five fingers holding on to the grip of life as an illustration.
To say that you dont need that now, would put a red flag in the minds of many, what else did they say that we needed but really don't. They cannot afford any more damage to their credibility. Suck it up you will continue the five meetings a week.

i apologize in advance if seems like i have started to many new threads, but this site no pun intended has been awakining.
i could not ask for my life to be much better, but there is one problem that i have.
i know it is not healthy but it is my life, i have been smoking even before i left the org.
As said it will depend on the BOE, also if they get a chance to question you adn find out that you were doing it while being a witness will not sit good as they will then say it was the HS that directed this to happen and also if you have much contact with witnesses and they assume you are still recognized as a witness because of your association MAY have a profound outcome on you, being your father is an elder he may stave off the lions for a while or indefinitely because his own emotions to you and the grandchild.
No rime or reason to the things that happen but it is not as they say in 1 Cor 1:10, they dont all speak in agreement.

how accurate can the bible really be?
i am losing faith that it is accurate at all.. according to an article i read in our paper today they are now saying in translation there are no english words to match every word...so the scripture that say "peace on earth and goodwill towards all men " should really be " peace on earth to all men of goodwill ".. now if they can screw something that simple up..what else in the bible have they screwed up?.
snoozy....
Matt 17:20 20 “You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible
Mark 4:39,40 39 When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. 40 Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” AND THEY WITNESSED IT WITH THEIR OWN EYES AND STILL DIDNT HAVE IT RIGHT!!!!!!!!
Luke 17:5 5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Show us how to increase our faith.”
Luke 18:8 8 I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?”
Romans 10:17 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ
1 Cor 2:5 so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power.
2 Thess 3:2 And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has faith.
Eccle 12: 12,13 12 Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them.
Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body.
13 Now all has been heard;
here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep his commandments,
for this is the whole duty of man.
Faith comes from reading Gods Word in a prayerful manner to learn as God teaches not with a critical eye of proving it wrong, there are many books out there to disprove the Bible but it will prevail and the conclusion of the matter is to fear the True God and as Paul said read IT to build faith and remember, faith is not posssession of everyone and Christ already knew that, this is why he asked what he did , when he returns, will he find the faith on the earth. Apparently not!!!!!
Respecfully, Abr,
i'd have to say mine was when i was at the wee age of 8.. my siblings and i were out swimming with some friends and their parents.
what i remember mostly was that i got seperated very quickly from the rest of the group and drifted into the deeper end.
i found it getting more and more difficult to swim with each passing second.
Had several guns pulled on me and that was scary but when I was 11 playing with a candle on a wooden night stand and fell asleep.
Woke up 4 hours later, night stand, wall, floor, ceiling and bed all in flames, 35 smoke bombs went off and somehow survived, fireman and ambulance said I should have died at least two hours before I woke up from just the smoke. Ironically it was Good Firday.

how can a christian love their neighbor as themself, if they don't love themselves?
if a christian hates himself, how can he love his neighbor?
if a christian treats himself poorly, how can he treat his neighbor well?
How can a Christian love their neighbor as themself, if they don't love themselves? If a Christian hates himself, how can he love his neighbor? If a Christian treats himself poorly, how can he treat his neighbor well?
Very interesting question and as interesting I was just reading this text this morning and it hit me. in Luke 10: 36,37 it says 36 “Now which of these three would you say was a neighbor to the man who was attacked by bandits?” Jesus asked.
37 The man replied, “The one who showed him mercy.”
Then Jesus said, “Yes, now go and do the same.”
Loving a neighbor means to show mercy, perhaps with an action, a thought or word. Maybe to show proper love to another and a neighbor as your thread says you mush show mercy to yourself FIRST. Not allowing oneself to do and say anything but rather not being so hard on yourself, realizing your own limitations and weakness as God does. Showing mercy to oneself may be the first and proper step before we can show it to others.
