  i read most of the posts on here and i was just trying to get an understanding on certain topics.

  i read some peoples material and why they dont believe in the jw faith.

  i understand that some people left the jw faith and some people on here may never have been jws or believed in it, so i understand why you post and give info back and forth, but i have trouble understanding some of the disfellowshipped ones on here.

  how about cutting people some slack? How about live and let live? how about letting people run their own lives and not attributing bad motives to them? It's not good for you to be so cynical. There are very few people on earth, JW or not, who haven't seriously screwed up at least once in life. If we start pointing the other guy's flaws, sooner or later we step in our own shit and smell just as bad as the guy we were condemning.

  so to address your point, so what? So what if someone gets df'd and comes on this forum and vents and blames the WTBTS when the truth is he/she did screw up? It's part of a growth process.

  it may have been done before, if it has it's being done again.. what worldly music did you listen to?

  i'm talking about the singer/band that made the elders blood boil and got you whispers and stares at the kingdom hall.. i was an eighties child so for me it was madonna!

  the lacy tops and bras, crucifixes, slutty makeup and openess towards sex was the perfect outlet for me.

  Beatles, Stones, various folk singers like Joan Baez and Bob Dylan, but the one that offended my mother the most was Janis Joplin. One of her album covers was a cartoon and you could see (gasp!!!)that the artist had drawn in NIPPLES (oh my gahhhhhhd) on a woman on the cover.

  my sisters are petty and sad

  they have always kept me out of their stupid little "club".

  it's hard on families, that stupid organization. My sisters and I are all out of the org. now, but don't really relate to each other. My middle sister rebelled first, got in lots of trouble and was df'd. So we lost our relationship with her. Then I faded and my other sister would still communicate with me, but not much. The third sister finally was df'd after her husband caused a huge huge scandal by sleeping with his children's elementary school teacher. Interesting how that works out, he commits adultery in a really scandalous way, is df'd and reinstated and is now the good guy. My sister was considered a bad person because she was angry and upset and felt betrayed. Eventually she moved on in life, started dating someone, and was told by the elders, who invaded her home one evening, to give the guy up or get df'd. So, she was df'd. But, because of all the years of separation we have never really reconnected. One sister is coming to visit me soon. I hope we connect in a good way.

  I was the awful person taking detailed notes, practically word for word. Not because I believed any of it, just because it looked good - I was desperate for approval. It turned out to be useful, now when I want to, I can open up my laptop and take very fast notes. That has come in handy at business meetings.

  It's also useful because if you're that busy no one bothers you and you don't have to actually participate in anything - you're too busy keeping the records!

  were you ever told to do things that had no bearing on the scriptures or even policies of the watchtower?.

  we had one co who upon inspection insisted that the body of elders and servants be cleaven shaven, cut their hair and remove their sideburns.. i use to have a patch of hair under my bottom lip.

  the co pointing to it asked, "what's that?

  I remember a poor woman who was considered weak and spiritually lacking because she always wore slacks to meetings. They didn't let her go out in service, either. Poor thing had badly scarred legs from a fire and was very self-conscious. Any reason to put someone down - it's a whole religion of people looking for other people's sins. Crappy judgmental assholes.

  the elders cames to my home on saturday and i didn't answer the door, so they told my sister to relay the message.

  the message was "you know what it's about, we're going to make the announcement next meeting".

  i knew it was coming...but it feels so weird.

  what's really interesting is that they have been running a sweat shop for decades and they have been getting away with it. They might win a lot of issues, but I bet they go down on this one. People have their rights, and worker's compensation is really down on employers who pretend their employees are really just contractors or volunteers. If they have to pay worker's comp. insurance plus interest and penalties going back many years, it will cost them millions and millions of dollars! Then maybe the federal government will get into it to - even counting food and lodging, they aren't getting minimum wage, are they? Whooeeee, what an idea!

  Effective Ways To Lose Weight

  my daughter's husband, her 2 best girlfriends and my ex are taking these mysterious pills that cut their appetite.

  within 1 month they have all lost between 20 to 25 lbs.

  when i saw my sil the other day, i didn't recognize him even though i had seen him 3 weeks before.

  I made a list once of all the diet I have ever tried - it was a long list. I gave up eventually, because the end result of every diet was weight gain - I always gained back more than I lost. However, Last year I decided that I don't want high blood pressure or diabetes - those pretty much guarantee degenerative diseases. So I am NOT on a diet. I limit my calories - there are lots of web sites that will help you find out a reasonable amount of calories to eat. I finally settled on calorieking.com which is really very helpful. I write down everything I eat every day (calorie king has an online journal, and nutritional information about practically any food you can think of. I have lost 80 pounds at the very boring rate of 2 pounds a week.
