you need a nice massage and some kind attention. You need to talk about how angry you are with someone who cares, so you don't do something reckless and get in trouble. In California it's legally considered harassment if it is perceived as harassment - so telling your boss once is OK, but don't do it again or HE could get YOU in deep trouble.

is Gee's Bend the place famous for the quilters? There was a museum exhibit of those quilts - I didn't see the exhibit but saw the stamps - was the first I had heard about that

Are JW's generally better than average people?
by JH ini for one, would blindly trust just about anyone on this forum, just the fact of knowing that you already were a jw.. does this mean that jw's in general are better people or are we a very close bunch of people?.

I sent it out to my email group - no one else thought it was funny. In fact, they didn't get it. I thought it was hilarious! Maybe I have a sick sense of humor.

well, this is a really interesting discussion. Rosalee, honey, you are condescending and patronizing and you are one of those people who make themselves feel "more than" by trying to make others feel "less than." We're all pretty happy where we are. Why are you here? I think that has been asked several times and you haven't answered the question. Why are you posting on this website? If you really truly believed in the WTBTS you wouldn't be sneaking around a site populated with apostates; you'd flee in horror instead. Are you trying to prove something to yourself by putting others down? Are you starting to be uncomfortable with your religion, so you are trying to prove you still believe by flaming the non-believers? Or maybe you're just bored and nasty and want to stir the pot? Are you counting time for hanging out on the JWD?
as for the original question, on the whole I'd say (from 32 years in the org.) that most JWs are pretty nice, but only conditionally and they belong to an organization that is so perfectionist they have to live double lives, which leads to mental illness, or at least a lot of depression. I had good friends in the org., but they abandoned me when I stopped being a JW. No such thing as free will for JWs, no matter what they say.

Is a rapid graceful exit possible?
by besty inwe will find out soon.
as a brief update my wife sweet pea and i have 'announced' to a few friends and close family - less than 10 altogether - that we are no longer going to meetings.
some friends have probed for details, others don't want to know.

if you've said bye-bye, don't look back to see if they are still waving. Move on to the next phase of life and let them do whatever little old thing they want to do. Out in the real world, it doesn't much matter.

Moving on
by What-A-Coincidence ini found this here: http://exjw.meetup.com/324/messages/boards/view/viewthread?thread=2568744.
what phase are you in?
it took me 1 and 1/2 years to get to phase v.. the damage perpetrated by jehovah?s witnesses upon its members is incredible.

well eventually you'll get bored with that phase, and move on. Especially if you are honest and admit that some of the crap in your life was probably your own fault. I eventually got to where I stopped blaming the WTBTS for everything. I think I'm at a phase where I've moved on, but I like to connect with people who can relate to my background. what phase is that?

Name Things Witnesses Make Big Deals Over
by minimus inhave you ever seen a witness get absolutely giddy over placing a measly tract with a neighbor and get up on the platform and tell the "experience" of how the neighbor actually said that he'd read it!
big deal!!!.
in our hall, they loved to applaud over the dumbest things!

omigod, I had forgotten the Rod Stewart thing - wasn't that a hoot? I wonder if it is on the urban legends website or if it was just a JW myth? For an organization that believes gossip is wrong, they are the number one biggest gossips in the whole damn world.
