Being Agnostic is depressing me....
by SkyGreen infor those that dont know my story, basically i "woke up the ttatt" about a year ago, started fading, then went back, now fading again because i just cant stomach it anymore.
my husband is very supportive, although he's still "in" for now, and trying to be regular with meetings and witnessing, he can see my point of view now, and often notices things in the wt or other publications that are "off".
the fading thing is hard, sometimes i want to da, but because of the upheaval it would cause my family, im waiting a little while - i guess hoping that my husband will be on the same page at some point, so that we can support eachother.

Well, the Dalai Lama said any religion that helps you live a more noble life is a good religion. Personally, I don't want anything to do with any religion, but I'm all for trying to live a noble life. You don't need god or religion to try to be a decent person.

Hi All - Finally Posting Here!
by Pyramid Scheme infirst off, i owe this site a tremendous debt of gratitude.
i have been an inactive witness for 4 glorious years, and the spark that began my fade out of the organziation was this site and paul's jwfacts.com.
it opened my eyes to a whole new world of insight, and i discovered that there were so many people out there like me - still a "spiritual" individual, but completely disgusted with the jw organization.

I almost wished i took the blue pill....
by 20yearfader insince joining this site and having my eyes opened,i find i'm now dealing with a lot of emotions that were suppressed.one being the passing of loved ones,in the org we were discouraged from showing proper emotions due to the fact that if you did you were considered weak since they the dearly departed were only sleeping.now im being bombarded with dreams of my loved ones that i,due to my brainwashing never had the emotional release that i should have had.i'm just wondering how others on this site are coping, and dealing with the fact that everything we was taught was false almost as a way to keep up under control,as we lost years and decades of time.i almost wish i keep my head and the sand and had taken the blue pill.what has helped you all deal with this ...new religion......no religion...etc.

Dear one,
Hang in there. It will pass. I have been out now as long as I was in, and I can tell you that after a while the entire JW life seems more like a television show you once saw. It loses reality and your true life can begin. You can make your own choices and be your authentic self, which was never allowed in the wtbts. I find the ability to be my authentic self is priceless and I love it.
Once you are through the anger and grieving you'll find life is brighter and sweeter because you'll no longer put off the things you want to do, and you'll no longer slave for an impossible future.

A fun ridiculous JW story
by ilikecheese inso i work with a jw.
around christmastime, everyone was leaving little presents for everyone else.
at least, they were doing that for the people they liked and ignoring the quiet ones; all offices are just like high school!

What kind coworkers - to be concerned about the JW's feelings and get together to provide a present. They won't make that mistake again! What's wrong with a sincere and pleasant "thank you?"

Would You Think Twice About Talking Negatively Toward Islam, The Koran or The Prophet?
by minimus inwould you fear that there might be "consequences"??

I have often said that the muslim religion is one of three of the most evil religions, and all arose in the middle east. You know which religions I mean. Speaking out is important -- otherwise our freedom of speech is threatened. However, time and place. No point in being really stupid and standing up in a mosque to denounce mohammed, eh?

SOOO I had my Tarot read the other day. (what would JW.org say?)
by hamsterbait inby this point in my life, i have no real belief in spooks or evil spirits.. how i lost all these things that the jw inspire is a long story.. sooo no fear.
no hate .
no pain .. intersesting though how many of the cards were relevant to my current state of impasse in my life: knowing it has to change, but not knowing how to go about it.. oh and next july i am supposed to be getting sizzzling sex with the love of my life.. watch this space.... what do you think of the tarot - crap, cold reading at a distance, relevant, useful tool to make you think?.

Well, if you believe the tarot cards have some sort of occult power, you're pretty gullible. However, I used to do tarot readings (yes, I'm an atheist with no belief AT ALL in anything spiritual or occult!)
Here's how they can be useful: I would shuffle them seven times -- not because it's a special number but because I read a scientific article on randomness that said you have to shuffle a deck of cards at least seven times to come near randomness. Then I'd lay them out in the approved traditional manner.
Then I'd have the person I was doing the reading for tell me a story about each card. I'd say, "what does this make you think of? What do you think he/she is doing here? What do you think the symbols mean?" After we went through all the cards, the person would usually have some sort of "aha" moment -- based solely on the stuff that came out of his/her own mind. In other words, the person would tell himself or herself a story based on how he/she interpreted the meaning of the cards. Usually the story came out of their own experience. So, I thought of it as a way of reframing information so that a person could see life experiences in a new way.
Plus it pissed off my charismatic-christian-republican-NRA-member husband.

I always click on titles that have to do with real people. Never, or almost never, click on titles that have to do with the wtbts or doctrine unless I'm in a pissy mood.

Demon Haunted World was very enjoyable.
When I was really depressed during my last couple of years as a JW, the cong's idea was that I was being tormented by demons.
Superstitious idiots.
