Yes, stop by -- we can meet at the Black Bear Diner or Seven Suns for some coffee. That would be great! You, Mrs. Om AND the dog come on by.

viewed 71 times, no comments -- I guess I'm boogying on my own over here in the corner. "Play that funky music til you die!"
I remember a James Brown performance a thousand years ago, he had a cape on and kept collapsing while he was singing. His backup pals would help him up, he would shake off their help and go on singing and then collapse again. I never did understand that. But for someone who couldn't sing, he still put out some great stuff. I was a JW teenager and wasn't supposed to listen to that sort of thing, back in the 60s. God I'm old.

btw, you don't have to have a kindle. You can download kindle for PCs free from the amazon site. That's what I did, I read books on my laptop.

i hear you guys constantly mentioning ttatt so where can i go to learn more about this (links please)?

Demokan,
you tried to overdose on Tylenol PM? That's alarming. I think you need someone on your side, you're surrounded by people who don't think the way you do, and who have power over you. Start looking around for a trustworthy non-JW adult you can talk with. For me, when I was in high school, it was the librarian. We didn't talk JW stuff, but she gave me a lot of books to read. She was pretty smart, books about language and how it can be used to manipulate, about the brain and how it works, about the modern world, political issues, history. Lots of stuff to make me think.
For instance, she had me read Language in Thought and Action, by S. I. Hayakawa. It has been around a long time, but the info is still very interesting and useful. I'm sure there are more modern books on the same subject. You might also want to read another golden oldie, Games People Play. You'll recognize a lot of those games at the KH. I also think everyone needs to read The Gift of Fear. It's rather scary, but it lists ten behaviors that tell you someone is untrustworthy. It's worth learning to recognize those ten behaviors. You'll see them everywhere, and you'll start to discern who is trustworthy and who isn't.
The library might not work for you, but if you'll keep looking you'll find some adult who can relate to you and be on your side.
Also, have a plan. You're stuck at home and going to the KH for now. What things can you do in the next three years that will make your future life better? The boring one is to get good grades at school, yet it is really important. Also, can you get a part-time job and start saving money? Can you learn job skills - maybe learn a skill that you can use to earn money while you go to college?
That's my two-cents-worth.

Last night the one cool elder calls me
by confusedandalone ini figured he was going to arrange the committee and try to get me kicked out after the whole "big pile of books" labelled "take this shit".. well his call made me realize that more and more people ... elders included no longer take this religion seriously.
after he told me he heard what happened he actually laughed and said i would never expect that.
he then told me that it is apparent that i no longer want to be connected to the organization.

I agree with you. Cut the cord. Let them DF you. If they leave you alone, they'll still call you up for jobs, hit you up for money, that sort of thing.
I'm glad you were firm with your parents and brother. They got into that financial mess, let them figure it out. Rescuing people all the time stunts their personal growth. You know they aren't going to go homeless or starve, so why should you have to clean up their mess?

I'm not going back...finally
by lostinthought init has been several years since my awakening.
since then i have stopped pioneering, stopped doing temp work at bethel, stopped field service (at the most, i went out a few hours a month for the last couple of months), my meeting attendance has been around 50 percent or so.

Good for you! You'll feel so much better soon. It's sort of like having surgery and then recovering -- you're cutting the wtbts out of your life and it takes a bit of time to get through and over the process.
Lots of avoidance -- as folks said above. Don't answer the phone if you recognize the caller. If they use a different phone number and trick you into answering, "sorry, can't talk. I'll call you soon." Then hang up. Same at the door, "sorry, can't talk now! I'll call you soon."
Only you know "soon" means "never."

Need Help - Looks like some one in my family got to know that we are fading...
by MissConfused inletter from a close family member... need help responding.... what a powerful illustration of the affect that our choice of friends can have on us, especially if we leave jehovah after being 'raised' by him from infancy!.
pack of wolvesthere was a farmer who raised sheep and had trouble with wolves stealing his sheep.
he loved his sheep and didn't want to lose even one of them.

Since they're talking about wolves, why don't you reply with the story of The Boy Who Cried 'Wolf' and then at the end put these dates: 1874, 1914, 1919, 1925, 1943, 1975, 2000.
Winston Smith -- good one!
