i wrote it because other books seemed to focus on personal experiences (boring, irrelevant) or doctrinal discussion of why i should convert to some other religion (boring, irrelevant and insulting).
anyway, it's an ebook, it's free, and it's out today..
I' glad you mentioned Visions of Glory, by Barbara Harrison. That book helped me quite a bit when I left the org. For years, it was the only one I knew about. I eventually read some of the others that are often mentioned here, but by the time I learned about them I had been out so many years they didn't strike me as much as Barbara Harrison's book did.
Congratulations on writing the book, the more the better! If it was published in 2000, you might want to write a new edition.

please tell my thirty-six year old niece what you would tell all your loved ones if they were to go back to the cult because they wanted to see their loved ones again.. she was df'd at sixteen for being a teenager with an anxiety disorder, her dad had walked out on her and her family(2 other sisters) when they were young and never supported them or the mother.
all of them had to live with their grandmother.
after the last child left home, their father has their mother move back in with him.
Well, I recommend going to counseling before making any major decisions like going back to the wtbts. Counseling helped me enormously, my life is a lot better for it. You might have to try a couple of counselors before you find one that suits you, but when you do the counselor can really help you sort out your life and make it better.

we aren't going to share the blessed news with family until the end of the first trimester later this year...if we can hold out and keep it a secret until then.

If you want to invite them, do so. Don't worry about what they think -- they'll either accept or not. Don't get bogged down in JW head games, just invite them and let the chips fall where they may.
this morning i get a frantic call from my sister (who has been baptized 1 year and one month and never attends meetings anymore).
in tears she tells me that this morning my father picked her up in the car and told her that i was am apostate.
that i no longer loved jehovah and that i was going to be disfellowshipped.
Again I say, your brother is a prick. He doesn't realize, though, that by pushing through the DF, he is actually helping to set you free. He's pissed off because you won't help with $$$, and so he's being vengeful and self-righteous.
Sure, write a letter and tell them exactly what you think. You are in a unique position of being able to do so, you have your wife and kids with you, and you don't need the cong. for anything. Tell them the truth.

i always found meetings borning and family studies so bad.

i remember years ago maybe 20 years ago an elder or co was giving a talk on armaggeddon and he said that we know we are close to the end when homosexuals get the same rights as straight people.
he said jehovah would never allow gay people to marry because it would be an abomination and he would do the same as sodom and gommorrah.
what if a member of a gay couple decides to become a jws would he or she have to get a divorce?.
Theoretical question, right?
I can't imagine any gay person deliberately joining that homophobic organization.
