Well, I have to say a little about reflexology and Rolfing. Of course, the claims they make for reflexology are unscientific and unbelievable, but the massage itself is quite nice and it does relax your foot muscles, make your feet feel better. As for Rolfing, Rolfers have moved on past Ida Rolf. What's wrong with Rolfing isn't the technique itself -- that's actually a very effective massage technique specifically for releasing tension/scar tissue in connective tissue. I did it for years, just calling it connective tissue massage. It's the exagerrated claims these folks make that are bullshit. Also, and you Rolfers out there -- I don't care if you don't like this, Rolfing is the type of massage that causes most injuries. I have met many aggressive Rolfers who think that they know best, that pain is good for you, and that if you have "armoring," you need to have it removed. They give the massage technique a bad name and do unnecessary damage.

A Handy Guide to Woo and Assorted Superstitions
by cofty init's interesting how superstitious people point the finger and laugh at other people's superstitions.. the only honest thing is to reject all of them.
here is a handy checklist to see if you have missed any.

Well, I'm pretty far north of you, but if you ever head up highway 5 toward Oregon, let me know. I'm about 45 minutes south of the Oregon border. We can meet for coffee and JW gossip.

I always look at yarn on etsy. They have the most amazing hand-spun, hand-dyed yarns. It's a good thing I can't afford most of them, otherwise I'd be a yarn hoarder.

I donĀ“t fit in here, so goodbye and take everyone.
by Mr Fool inafter some reflections i have come to the decision to disfellowship myself from here, permanently.
many interesting argumentations sometimes, thank you adamah for many clever reflections.
criticizing in a bad manner of members and arrogant "i know better than you"-attitudes is a part of it.

I don't "fit" either, but I don't think it matters. You just jump in the pool, splash around, get splashed back, have a good time and don't take it so seriously. It's just an online forum.

Survival and Preparedness--What Are You Doing, Or Going To Do?
by CrimsonBleu init's been a long time since i posted here, but i lurk often, checking in on things in the jw world.
i have been out for 25 years, but have family still in.
none of them speak to me anymore, even though they used to quite often and quite regular, breaking all the shunning rules.

Well, disasters happen and often they aren't really predictable. I think it's common sense to have extra food you can eat without cooking, water, candles, lighters, batteries, battery-powered radio, extra meds, stuff like that on hand. I keep a little stash in a closet, stuff that will keep me going for a week or two if necessary. But you can't prepare for everything, what if there's a big earthquake and the buildings fall down? What about those poor people in the Philippines this week - possibly the strongest storm ever to hit land?
So I try to be reasonably prepared, but also am aware that in some kinds of disasters I would simply be screwed.

Since leaving the truth, do you celebrate holidays, and does your participation in such bring you happiness?
by Stand for Pure Worship ini ask this respectfully, and do so after watching a favorite show of mine's season opener which had a new years storyline.
hollywood tends to make movies and television show episodes centered around holiday themes appear warm and blissful.
while i'm thankful to have never participated in such holidays, i can't deny my curiosity about ex-jws that do celebrate.

I've been out a long time. I did the holiday thing for a while, enjoyed some of it, dislike some parts of the holidays. Thanksgiving -- love the idea of friends/family eating a special meal together. However, enough turkey already. I think this year I'm going to the community Thanksgiving, so I don't have to buy a turkey and have all those leftovers.
Christmas, I like the lights, smells, cheerfulness. I like the idea of presents for kids. Pointless for adults, they can go buy what they want most of the time. I like cooking Christmas goodies, I make awesome fruit cake.
The rest of the holidays? I mostly forget they are happening unless I need to mail something and find out the post office is closed.

Some more weird ones
by Hortensia ina friend, former jw like me, wants me to ask you a question.
she remembers as a child that her jw parents believed that satan could come up through any perfectly round hole and cause you to sin.
for instance, if her father built a fire ring at the beach, he purposely put a corner on it so satan couldn't catch them.

Jeffro, Violia -- LOL I'm in California. I love it here. I just consider it all part of the local circus. Gorgeous scenery, good air, good water, small town right on a big highway. Love it.
For some fun reading, look up "the State of Jefferson."

Rip - I think you must have posted at the same time I did -- I just saw your post. Your prediction makes everything clear! At last, I understand!
BTW my psychic neighbor said she didn't know whether it meant a power failure or the sun going out, we'd have to wait and see but in the meantime she went shopping and bought more Sterno.

Thanks everyone for the feedback!
Tec -- you're right! It never occurred to me before but it makes sense -- a Mount Shasta reality show. It certainly keeps me entertained.
