Good Netflix shows to watch
by Simon inin the long winter nights you need some good tv shows to watch while you wait for the eternity between seasons of game of thrones.. we've watched marco polo (pretty good) and have just started watching orange is the new black which is not at all what i imagined (didn't know it was funny!).
house of cards is on the list too as we've heard good things about that.. anyone have any others that are worth seeing?.

Troll Hunter is hilarious, there's another one that I think is called something like Rare Export that is a very similar sort of funny. Similar sense of humor -- though a different kind of story -- to Lars and the Real Girl. -

Experience in a talk
by Da.Furious inlast week we had an elder giving a talk, cant remember the title.. the thing that was of interest is the experience he gave:.
"a brother who was working in a hospital had to leave his job which was paying him good money because the nurses wanted to sleep with him and they kept putting notes for him on his desk!".
this is not the first time i hear similar experience.

Well . . . Once I got out of the wtbts and into the real world, I found out that a surprising number of JW men were dating "worldly" women at the massage school I attended. Married JW men. I was in a different circuit, so these men didn't know I was a JW. So interesting to hear these stories.
I personally think that if a person is going to screw around, being a JW is no impediment.

How to Hear God's Voice Easily and Effectively: A Book Review
by Hortensia inhttp://smile.amazon.com/hear-gods-voice-easily-effectively-ebook/dp/b00nplbit8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=utf8&qid=1420441456&sr=8-2&keywords=how+to+hear+god%27s+voice.
i think perhaps this book doesn't really examine the issue in depth.
for instance, my niece suggests that the first necessary step to hearing god's voice is to skip your meds.. i'm sure we could all come up with better ways than the namby-pamby stuff recommended in this book that would enable anyone to hear god's voice.. a very tight necktie, for instance.. playing modern christian music backwards, while drinking mogen david.. instead of skipping your meds, in some cases it works better to double your meds.. wear a tin-foil pyramid hat.

Terry, Stan, you all nailed it -- low-effort cop-out that makes them feel good about themselves. I wonder if they then ACTUALLY go get on their knees and specifically mention you in prayer? -

Playing modern christian music backwards, while drinking Mogen David.
Instead of skipping your meds, in some cases it works better to double your meds.
Wear a tin-foil pyramid hat. No, wait a minute, that's for protecting your brain against the CIA. Ignore that.

Poster country flags and privacy
by Simon inthe new forum originally had a little country flag next to each post showing the country that the post was made from based on the geoip encoding (the country the ip address is from).
before i switched over to the new site someone made an issue about it violating their privacy and i didn't want to complicate and confuse the switchover with policy debate at the same time as technical issues so removed the flags even though i disagreed.. someone has already requested it as a feature and i think it should be added back so i thought it's now time to open the discussion and get everyone's opinions.
first, the reason i think it should be shown:.

I haven't read all nine pages and probably wont', so if the discussion has degenerated into calling each other Nazis, well, I've missed it.
But, I want to say I don't think it's Simon's job to protect MY identity. If I blab too much, well, that's on me.

Memories. .. share the earliest or most favorite childhood memory
by MissFit inmy daughter tells me that experts say children tend to have false memories.
apparently their brain tends to fill things in that may not be totally accurate.. i refuse to believe that my favorite and comforting memory might not be true.
so here is to fond memories real or not.. the earliest memory i have is being put in a crib at a preschool.

We lived on Guam when I was little. My oldest memories are from Guam. I can remember pitching a terrible fit because there was a little octopus on a rock at the beach and I wanted to keep it. My parents explained it was alive and needed to be left alone and other stuff too, I'm sure. They wound up giving me a spanking because I wouldn't quit pitching a fit.
I can remember the beach on Guam, eating hibiscus blossoms, living in a Quonset hut. I remember the trip back to California on a Navy ship much more clearly, I was a little older then.

No point in making resolutions. I have no resolve! But, I'm all right with lists. My list is fairly short, includes finishing three current knitting projects, then starting a new one for which I already have the yarn. Also have a sweater to finish, and want to warp my loom so I can do some weaving.
And become queen of the garden this year, unseating the current dictator/emperor. Might happen. Might not.
