the WTBTS like other religions isn't necessarily criminal, they aren't breaking laws. That might be because religions have had a lot to do with passing laws over the centuries. What religions are, all of them, is evil, immoral, unethical. I don't think you can blame the WTBTS for pedophiles, but you can blame them for setting up an organization that protects them. But other religions have done the same, it isn't only the WTBTS. Religions are also dangerous, the more secrecy and control, the more dangerous.

What do you do with your time???
by nonamegiven inwell, now that you are out of the organization, what do you do with the time you gained?
let's see how much time we gained.. assuming you were a publisher you spend at least 2 hours in service 3 saturdays a month plus the service meeting and drive time to and from the kh, let's call that 10 hours a month.. 5 meetings a week plus "fellowshipping" before, after and drive time, let's call that another 40 hours a month.. then there was meeting prep.
another 8 hours a month.

I do things I like that are fun and interesting with nice people who are also fun and interesting. I like to read and write, those things take time, knit, get out and look at nature, meditate, watch television, spend hours on the computer even before I found JWD, hang out with my husband, visit friends, have friends over to dinner, take vacations with friends, and not a JW in the bunch although I recently reunited with an old ex=JW friend and we visit her and her really cool husband in the mountains, too.

here's one I wondered about for years and finally got the answer - how does the left turn light know your car is there? I finally asked an electric engineer friend and he told me there is something in the ground that is magnetic and detects large metal objects - you can see where it is if you look. Sometimes there are two at busy intersections where it isn't worthwhile to change the light for one car - one at the intersection and another one three or four car lengths back. Isn't that interesting? Or did everyone know that except me?

My funny Memorial story...
by nsrn ini think i told this story last year on here, but it's worth repeating for a good laugh.. my last memorial i attended was with my daughter, who was about 5. i took her and went to please my parents, of course.
my daughter went to church with me regularly and so i had done the intense 'instructions' enroute about not partaking, etc.
i got more and more tense as we arrived and got out of the car.

go to costume store, get religious costume, wear it to KH. Genuflect toward stage, sit in front row, partake of emblems, muttering a hail mary afterwards. Shake hands on your way out, saying "god bless you, see you next year." I wonder if they would react at all, or maybe figure out you are joking and call the cops, or think you are demented and sit on the other side of the hall.

I Was Raised In "The Truth" And Am A Survivor Of Incest - shocking

had the same experience myself, different details, but the same childhood. Alcoholic father, mother in denial, abuse sexual verbal as well as beatings. Whew. However, it is true that it is a chain of history going back many generations, abusers often were abused. No matter how disgusting I think Michael Jackson is, for instance, every time I see his picture I wonder who abused him. Although that is probably pretty obvious - I believe it was his JW father who has an evil look if ever anyone did. It's sad, but still the abuse has to stop somewhere and even if we pity these folks who commit the abuse, they still have to be stopped. I think they have to answer for what they've done no matter how many years have passed.

HE'S OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW, OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW, OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW!
by Schism inomg, dad's been calling all day and i've been hiding.
hubby's finally called him to tell him we don't want to talk about it.
after hubby had been on the phone with him for almost an hour (he was on the phone outside while i was inside cooking), i hear my dad's voice!

what you do is go out, say dinner's ready, hold open the door for your husband, block your dad by standing in front of him and say see ya later and then firmly shut the door. Don't answer anything, don't take up any topic, don't stand there, don't look to see how he takes it. If your husband doesn't take the opportunity, go back in and eat your dinner and let him handle it his own way. My god woman, you misssed American Idol because of this. Also, it really helps to say to someone like that, "how many times do I have to say no before you can hear me?" Then shut the door, hang up the phone, walk away, whatever. Block the emails, screen your phone calls, you don't have to engage in the discussion.

I flash back to old feelings - have to remind myself that they are just memories and I have control of my own life now. Old feelings like rejection and guilt and not being good enough ever for anything. Rejection especially is a trigger - have to work on that one.
