I find C. S. Lewis pretty boring, but there was a television movie about the great love of his life, his American wife who died of cancer, which was an incredibly moving story. I watch that whenever it comes up on television, even though it makes me cry. However, I didn't really like the narnia movie, doubt if I'll see the next one. But I'll definitely go see the next Harry Potter movie.

The chronicles of Narnia and Harry Potter
by uuus2b1 inlast year, i bought a few movies for my 16 year old niece when i went on vacation, among them was the movie "the chronicles of narnia (the lion, the witch and the wardrobe).
a few days later my brother called and said that he would like if i came by to pick up the movie as they would not allow their daughter to watch that movie.
(my brother is an elder) when i went to his house the movie was left virtually the same place that i had left it.

what JWs and other religious extremists forget is that we didn't sign on to follow their rules. If a person wants to relate his personal experience on the internet, that's freedom of speech, something JWs definitely do not believe in. If another person reads this experience and it helps him to make up his mind where he had doubts, well, that is free will. Another thing JWs don't really believe in. and if the first guy is happy he helped the second guy, well that's human kindness, something else JWs don't practice although they talk about being kind. I don't get why a practicing JW would hang out on a forum that consists mostly of people who can't stand the WTBTS.

if someone has a judgement against you, you should know about it. They don't have to warn you that they are taking $$$ out of your bank account, they just do it. If you knew in advance, you'd take the money out and they wouldn't get it.
Try a different wells fargo branch, as I know mine will cash a check that large. They fuss and moan, but they do it.

I don't think he'd come in after I throw open the door and say "well jesus fucking christ what took you so long?"
I have been out so long I don't really give a damn what an elder would find if he walked into my house. It's my house, after all.

yes, I can't wait for the last book and the next movie - both coming out at the end of June or early July, I think. I remember when the first Harry Potter came out, I took it on vacation to Alaska. Went to do some laundry in Seward and saw, in the laundromat, a whole row of tourists reading HP while their laundry washed. Was funny. And I sat down to read my copy too, while my laundry washed.
Not sure why I like them so much, except maybe for all the details the author has worked out, the whole background of the stories. The next movie is from the least interesting book, so will be interesting to see how the movie turns out.

Is the JW Memorial ONLY about Jesus?
by JH ini think it's more of a ploy to get inactive, disfellowshipped, and newbies to the hall.. it has nothing * it has much more to do than this one event.. .
* now it's more realistic.

I actually got an invitation yesterday for the memorial. I heard a noise at the door and found a cheap looking flyer crumpled in my door frame. As I was looking at it a woman came back into the yard to identify herself as the one left it there. I said, "I'm glad you came back. Please put my address on your do not call list. I don't want to receive any visits from JWs." She asked the stupid question, "do you know anything about JWs?" Obviously I know something about them, since I asked for them NOT to call. that's my two cents worth - a desperate attempt to add something to the thread.

I love the Harry Potter books and movies. It's amusing the christian extremists object to them, the Harry Potter books are about the young hero battling evil on his path toward the triumph of good. Sort of like the Jesus mythology, isn't it? A young man, fighting evil, becoming king.
I'm rather worried about the final Harry Potter as I think the author has developed some contempt for her readers, and I am hoping she doesn't kill off HP himself in the final book, as that would piss me off. It would be a form of jerking around the reader like the movie ET jerked around its audience.
I didn't like chronicles of Narnia very much. I thought it was pretty violent for little kids, and disturbing too.

Let's see...
My mother stayed with a violent alcoholic who tried to kill us on many occasions. She went to the elders about it, I remember the meeting with the elders, they said she couldn't leave as my father was her "head" and she had to take what he dished out to please Jehovah (gee, makes me really luv jehovah) and as a witness to others. Makes me want to tear my hair out!!!
We lived a life of terrible poverty, not helped by anyone in the congregation by the way, except for one family that was kind to us. Eventually my mother got a divorce anyway, but the damage was done, we were almost grown up, too late for us to have any kind of decent family life.
Then, to show she never learned a lesson, she married an elder, a nice old guy who eventually developed Alzheimer's. I asked my mom once why she didn't get the roof fixed, they certainly had enough money. She said, "Ken says not to." I said, "Ken has Alzheimer's, mom. When are you going to make your own decisions?" She said (and this is priceless!!!)"when the elders say I can." Makes me want to scream.
I once sat next to a table of six or seven women in a restaurant. They looked like christian wives: permed hair, flowery dresses, stockings and low heels, some how it screamed "christian." They were talking about submission, and they seemed to be trying to outdo each other in telling their stories about how hard it is to be submissive. They weren't complaining, they were showing off. I wanted to puke and to walk over and scream at them "what the fuck is wrong with you? Can't you hear how crazy this conversation is? If you believe in God, why do you think he gave you a brain?"
