Some more weird ones
by Hortensia ina friend, former jw like me, wants me to ask you a question.
she remembers as a child that her jw parents believed that satan could come up through any perfectly round hole and cause you to sin.
for instance, if her father built a fire ring at the beach, he purposely put a corner on it so satan couldn't catch them.

LoisLane -- thanks for the cool info. I went over to that page and read this: "Don't delay, because Comet ISON is plunging toward the sun for a perilous encounter on Nov. 28th. At closest approach, the comet will be deep inside the sun's corona and little more than a million kilometers from the fiery stellar surface. If ISON survives--a big IF--it could emerge from solar fire as a naked-eye comet for northern-hemisphere observers in December."
Such interesting stuff!
Bohm - my neighbor spends all her money on new age stuff, she doesn't have anything for a bet
Cofty, Violia -- guns and gold, buy guns and gold (not sure what good they will do but that's the recommendation from the space cadets around here)
Yadda, Julia -- JW superstition has to be experienced to be believed. And they sincerely think they aren't superstitious.
My neighbors include new agers, I AMers, St. Germaine believers, UFOers, believers in Telos, redneck Tea Partiers who want to secede from California and survivalists. And that's just a small sampling. I'm starting to fear I might fall down one of those rabbit holes myself someday.

by OneStepOut93 inso it's been seven months since i moved out of my parents place and in with my (now) fiance.

Personally I wouldn't go to a meeting for anything. Tell your fiance it was lovely of him to be so concerned about the rift between you and your parents, but that it isn't your choice, it's theirs. You don't believe, and because of that they shun you. Then tell him going to the meeting will just get their hopes up, and it's better in the long run if you stay true to yourself, even if it means your parents avoid you.

Well, I had a Jack-in-the-Box taco today, does that give you any ideas? That was lunch. My supper was hummus and ak-mak crackers.
Soup? Celery and peanut butter? Bowl of cereal? Yogurt and honey?
Dave's Killer Bread and peanut butter?
That's been my diet lately.

For instance, if her father built a fire ring at the beach, he purposely put a corner on it so Satan couldn't catch them. She had to get out of the tub before pulling the plug, so Satan wouldn't come up through the drain and get her.
She is wondering whether any of you remember any JW superstition like that or was it unique to her family?
BTW, my psychic neighbor warned me that there will be three days of total darkess starting Nov. 28, and that the entire world economy will collapse next March, leading to an ice age. I'm not sure how a financial collapse would lead to an ice age, but anything's possible. Just thought I'd give you a heads up on the future folks. Buy gold and shotguns!

Well, it was uncomfortable but after a while you'll find that it doesn't make you feel bad any more. It makes me want to give each one of them a squeeze and a kiss, just to watch them cringe. I don't often get the chance to be in their faces anymore, which is a pity since it's so much fun.

Three little freckles..
by zeb inon my shoulder.
they looked like the points of a triangle.
i watched them for a little time then i felt they were changing in ever so tiny ways.. my doctor removed them.. they were (medical words) pre cancerous and now they are not there.. after my last scare with melanoma i have had all-over skin checks done by the doctor every 6 - 8 weeks.

Good reminder! I had a lot of bad sunburns as a kid, we spent a lot of time at the beach and there was no sunscreen then. I get checked every year, have had a few small cancers burned off. Not melanoma, though.

I've had doctors like that. It is not businesslike. I don't mind waiting if there's an emergency, but it shouldn't be routine to wait for hours when you have gone to the trouble to arrive on time.
Fortunately, the office I go to now keeps things moving. I've seldom had to wait more than a few minutes, occasionally as much as a half hour if there is an emergency.
