I banged my forehead really hard against a door last night. My neck and right shoulder hurt now. I'm tired of people, especially people who can never ever not even one stinking time keep their mouths shut. Negative people who can never keep a negative opinion to themselves. I'm tired of not being perfect, and of being gracious about criticism, and being reasonable and nice, dammit. Or at least, I'm tired of trying to appear reasonable and nice! See, I have to be reasonable about being unreasonable. Grrrrr. Would bang my head against a door, except, of course, that I already did that and it hurts!

I agree, although boxing is a sick sport, I admire Ali for refusing to go to war.

An old Watchtower offshot in Africa
by Londo111 inhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/religion_in_the_democratic_republic_of_the_congo#kitawala.
a much more radical product of the synthesis of african and christian elements is the kitawala movement or so-called "watchtower movement", which appeared in katanga province during the 1920s.
influenced by the black american missionary activity in south africa of the watch tower bible and tract society (jehovah's witnesses), the movement converted miners who then spread elements of the movement northward from their south african base into the katangan copper belt.. the british "reverend" james booth and his african associate elliott kamwana, both black, used watch tower publications but did not limit their preaching to the bible students message of charles taze russell (it does not seem that russell understood this at the time).

I've become bold
by skeeter1 ini totally discovered ttat in 2004.. at first, i told my jw relatives each & every thing i found out.
they didn't appreaciate it.. then, i read coc and realized that that was the wrong approach.
so, from about 2007-2013, i rarely said anything to them abou the jws.. well, i just don't care any more to pussy foot around them, making nice, and smiling.

Yeah, I don't care what they think. If they leave me alone, I'll leave them alone. But if they start preaching, I don't hold back what I think.

Ad Gefrin - The Ancient Capital of Northumbria
by cofty inlast sunday my wife and i went walking in the cheviot hills in the beautiful northumberland national park not far from our home.
we have walked a lot of the cheviots in recent months and intend to get around a lot more over the summer.. this week we decided to go up a few of the smaller hills in the north of the park so we headed for a peak known as yeavering bell.
it was used as a hill fort since the iron age.

A walk in the Cheviot hills -- sounds so wonderful. I get to walk in some beautiful places here in northern California, but they don't sound as good, somehow, when I describe them. I think if I got to go for a walk in the Cheviot hills I'd feel like a character in British fiction.
Cool historical info, too, I enjoyed reading it.

Books that changed your life-
by new hope and happiness ini am not much of a reader as i have two many distractions, but i fancy a challenging read, so please list any book that has changed your entire world view on everything.
i remember as a teenager buying at a yard sale, norman vincent peales " the power of positive thinking" and at the time that had a big impact on me.
but i am a little bit more in to " realistic positive thinking" now..

I think what had the most effect on me was not any one book, but the hours and hours I spent at the public library as a kid. Librarians took a friendly interest in me and recommended books for me to read. My mother the JW had no idea of what I was reading as a kid and teenager. It all sank in and eventually surfaced again when I left the wtbts. My recommendation is to read a lot, especially history, science, biographies, literature. What I am now comes more from the books I read than the effect of the wtbts.
If you know any kids you want to help, take them to the library every week and let them choose any books and as many books as they want to read.

Farewell from Confused and Alone
by confusedandalone ini use to hate when people who made goodbye posts on message boards.
why would they think that just because you no longer post on a chevy truck forum or a los angeles lakers forum the world would crumble around those still left there.
this place is definitely different.

Everything Not Forbidden is Compulsory
by cofty ini came across this phrase in the context of quantum mechanics.
it's called the gell-mann's totalitarian principle.. i thought it summed up life in the watchtower quite accurately..
