I liked it that the tone of the report was even-handed, no excessive drama. It made the story all the more shocking. Especially at the end when the reporter revealed that the wtbts recently sent out another letter to the elders, with the same policy.

What comforts you when you no longer believe in a ressurrection ?
by EdenOne inour family just lost someone dear and very close, a faithful jw.
as we went through the entire funeral services and meeting long time brothers and sisters, who in general have been very kind and warm towards us, we realize that the hope of resurrection is a meaningless utopia for us, like a fairytale for little children.
we don't have faith in it anymore, and serves us of no comfort.

I find it comforting to know that someone who has been suffering is no longer suffering. I find it comforting to know that those I've lost aren't aware of the loss, I may be missing family and friends that have died, but they aren't sad and missing me. I find it comforting to know that once I die, I won't know I'm dead.
I don't want to die, and feel sad there are people I'll never see again. I think it's sad that awareness/consciousness comes with the price of knowing it will end some day. But, just the same, I'm glad to have had the chance to live, to appreciate the universe and the wonder of living, even if it's temporary.

If you are single and have married friends, . . .
by compound complex inis your sense of loneliness (if you are lonely) heightened when you see what they share?
how do cope (if you are coping) with a sense of isolation, of not having a significant other?.
i know some single persons who are very happy as they are.

I'm alone, but not lonely very much. I enjoy my own company most of the time, and have lots of projects, do a lot of things with the groups in the apartment complex where I live.
Would I like to be married? No way. Never want to do that again. I'd like a companion if I could find a compatible one, but that isn't likely. I'm not worried about it. I'm mostly a happy person, I have friends and stuff to do. If I hang out with married couples too much, I feel very much like an outsider. However, most of the people who live in these apartments are single, and they are all seniors like me.

Pope thinks hitting children is "Beautiful"
by cofty inone time, i heard a father in a meeting with married couples say `i sometimes have to smack my children a bit, but never in the face so as to not humiliate them.how beautiful!
he knows the sense of dignity!
he has to punish them but does it justly and moves on.

I don't think they'd just get the idea on their own to go out and find a PR company. But to realize there's a guy inside the org. who does that, it would give them ideas, I'm sure. Maybe they consulted some JW PR person like this NetHolics guy and he did such a good song and dance they hired him.
I've thought for a while that the changes you all talk about sound so commercial that there must be some sort of PR consulting going on.

The victim's being a JW really isn't the story. That whackdoodle young woman would have killed anyone convenient -- if not a JW, then someone else.
I hope they don't ever let her loose again -- what a dangerous person!

I looked at a satellite photo. 1223 Rocky Point Way in Escondido is someone's house in one of those cookie-cutter neighborhoods.
Scam. Sort of like the one in Spain?

the moment you banish him, your life become purer, simpler, cleaner; more worth living in my opinion.".

How do Americans feel about Canadians and Britons interjecting their opinions onto hot localized political topics: gun laws, abortion, ect?
by adjusted knowledge inin addition to the above question, why do citizens of the two above mentioned countries, or other countries, feel the necessity to tell americans how they should interpret the american constitution for localized issues?.
i fairly much have an idea what the general population in the usa feels in regards to the first question.
this could be one of the possible reasons cnn piers morgan poor ratings and eventual firing.

I don't care. Go ahead and share your opinions. I might learn something. Or I can ignore you entirely.
I probably agree with you about a lot of it, anyway. I think a lot about the US sucks -- Palin, for instance or the Republican party. Bash them all you like!

I just want to say I suffered from severe depression as a JW. I finally gave up just because I was so depressed I couldn't function. I figured I was going to be burnt toast at armageddon anyway. Amazingly, the longer I stayed away from meetings, the better I felt! And when I felt better I could be more logical about JWs and religion in general.
I say, don't go back to the meetings. You don't want to get to the point I was at if you can avoid it, so give it all up now and go find a more interesting life.
