This "nut" here was able to help several people last year after our huge windstorm took out the power to over a million houses.
I also wore a helmet back when I rode a motorcycle and before it was state law. Call me a pessimist but the one truth I have learned in life is shit happens. And when it does it hurts the least prepared the most.

Sense of Humor
by dinah indoes anyone else think that the sense of humor we have has helped us cope?
i was just noticing what a bunch of fun-loving peeps most of you are.. another thing i've noticed here too, people here are actually caring, nurturing, people.
we may get a little snippy sometimes, but all in all i think we are a pretty good bunch---especially to have come out of hell to try and live a full life..

The Berkey ceramic water filter is a good one and is gravity fed. Katedyn also makes some good ones but niether of them are cheap. Most hot water tanks have 30-40 gallons of water but you have to know where the drain spout is at to use it w/o water pressure. Older toilet tanks hold around 5 gallons also.

My wife had to blackmail me into going to the hosp. My truck was in the shop and she was taking me to work and picking me up. When she picked me up she said I was not getting home unless I walked w/o going to the ER first. I got the upper GI series after drinking a hideous milkshake contrast (barium). The duodenum was three times the normal size and if it ruptured the blood loss would have been deadly.
So it is nothing to mess around with and is very likely worse then it feels.
(Don't even ask what line of work I was in at the time)

Why are we telling Iran they can't have nukes?
by mavie inwatching the democratic debates i was struck how every candidate, save dennis kucinich, pledged to prevent iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
iran is a sovereign state, diplomacy which ends in 'you can't have this, but we can' will not work.
what would happen if another country told us we couldn't have nukes?

I had peptic ulcers 12 yrs ago. The symptoms are a burning hot feeling in the middle of your abdomen. Be sure to get them checked since they can be very dangerous and usually don't go away w/o treatment.
I took several different acid blockers that were very expensive and the pain would come back after the Rx was gone. I finally did some research and cured them with a food supplement. I have not had them return since then.
They were bad enough that I could not stand up straight and lost several days of work. I ignored them and ended up with duadenitis. The doc said I was about three days from my stomach rupturing which would most likely have been fatal.
