I think my wife is the most intelligent "sister" in my congregation. She irks the crap out of a particular elder know-it-all and will give it right back to him, if need be.

How Were Intelligent "Sisters" Treated In Your Congregation?
by minimus inas a rule, i believe jehovah's witnesses treat females as sub par to the menfolk.
i knew a lot of women in the hall that were smarter than their mates.
they begrudgingly got respect from most of the elders.

doing "bad" things while inactive...results?
by DeusMauzzim inok here's the scenario:.
i'm baptised, not da'd or df'd but 1yr inactive because i'm pretty 200% sure dubdom isn't the truth(tm) - i basicly just left silently.
naturally i do not feel myself bound by their rules of living anymore.

I'm in a similar situation as you being inactive for over 2 years and not attending anything for over a year and a half except one meeting here or there in another congregation an hour away (I'm beginning to lose track of how long it's been, really). I find it curious as to why the elders don't do anything about it. My wife seems to think they won't as long as I keep a low profile. Others have backed this up, too. So, from what you describe, it sounds like if they haven't so far, I wouldn't worry about it. Even an occasional DF-association shouldn't hurt you as long as not too many know about it.

Have you ever faked a service report?
by Orgull init's only my third day here so, go easy on me.
lol.. seriously, my new doubts have made it harder and harder to go in service.
a few months ago, when a new month rolled around, i realized that i hadn't actually gone in service at all the previous month.

Fake reports are far more common than most people realize.
I wonder just what the real total time put into service is in the annual world report? How many billion do they report, but in actuality it's off by a factor of ten or more?
Open Mind mentioned something about avoiding the pre-CO shepherding call? My then book-study conductor called as my meeting attendance and service time was beginning to fall. He tried to set up a call with the CO during the CO's visit. I told him no, it wouldn't be a good idea. This guy is a real Type A in-your-face intimidator. He just didn't know how to deal with someone flat out telling him no. I didn't have any fallout from that, either. I recommend just telling them No. And you don't have to give any reasons, either.
The other thing with that is that I knew that he was just trying to get in the shepherding call that he was supposed to have done a long time before that but procrastinated until the last minute. Elders who conduct book studies are supposed to call on the people in their studies once or twice a year (I forget), but the all-too-common story is that they put it off till the week before the CO comes in. So much for caring for their "flock."

"But seriously, it was hard for me to go out to try and convince people to be JW's when I wasn't sure about it myself." - Musicman
BINGO!
That's the root of the problem right there.
It started out that I didn't want to invite anyone to my hall because the congregation was something I wasn't proud of. That progressed toward the whole organization in general.
About the faking of service time, I started by rounding up all my time, then by counting driving time to the hall and back and breaks in between, then I just kinda faked the last two entirely so that I would postpone the elders asking me why I was inactive...then later I didn't care any more and quit altogether. Told my wife I didn't care what she told them, but I refused to talk to any elder if they called to ask for time. They stopped calling. She told them to not ask anymore...plain and direct. I like that.

You Need To Give Credit To The Society For Your Education
by The wanderer in<!-- .style1 { font-family: arial; font-size: 18px; color: #0000cc; } .style2 { font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; } .style3 {font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: italic; } --> you need to give credit to the society for your education.the watchtower and awake magazines have been helping individuals receive a g.e.d .
or high school diploma.
where did you learn the art of public speaking?

OMG, Wanderer? Are you for real? Or is it like I said in another thread, that this is your style, your role-play, your inside joke. You play this devil's advocate and write in the style of the WT magazine. Just curious...it's a good routine you have, btw. I don't mean offense if you are serious about it, but I'm just fascinated I guess.

MyJWSpace Update 7/24
by WTWizard inout of curiosity, i checked out the myjwspace site mentioned in an earlier thread to see if it was growing.
as of now, there are 64 members on the whole site, and a grand total of (all this) one post on the whole forum!
of course, without joining, there is no way to read those posts to cut and paste segments of it here to tear them apart.. they have a chat room where they claim all the people are jws, the topics are safe, and they can be themselves (as dull and preprogrammed as they can get).

They all seem like such good lil dubbies, too...all holy and devout.
Except for the fact that the society severely frowns on internet association, even among witnesses.
Sorry if I repeat myself, but it was so hammered in to us at my old congo.

Another 'Letter to the Editor' published.... hoorah!
by AK - Jeff inthey ran it precisely as written [i believe, though i have not checked it word for word].
in seeker4's original thread he suggested that the catholic settlements could be used as basis for such a letter;.

JWS and Ex JWS....Is the Mark of the Beast taught in the Hall?
by A-Team ina few jws were stunned when i pointed out revelation 13 to them, they said they have never heard such a thing about the mark of teh beast or it's effects.
im beginning to wonder if its even taught in the hall.

A-team...I was raised as a pentecostal christian until I gave up on religion and then later became a witness. Funny progression there, eh? Anyway, we used to believe in that mark of the beast thing as very literal when I was growing up. Bar code, social security number, some sort of state-issued id...and now this Real ID thing you mention. I admit I still keep one eye open to stuff like that even though I don't buy into the Revelation thing any longer. But, you know...what if it is all true?
