The internet is not a good place to go if you want to keep being a JW.
(Hint: It's not a good thing to want to keep being one.)
our congregation is one of those diminishing ones where a lot of people move away or fade.
when i came into it, the congregation was at zero growth.
now it is negative.
Our congregation is one of those diminishing ones where a lot of people move away or fade. When I came into it, the congregation was at zero growth. Now it is negative. We have a couple dominant elders who are control-freaks, a strong undercurrent of gossip, and most people are related to each other (inbred, most likely) by blood and/or marriage. Those last two tend to go together. I'd rate it as an ultra-conservative, ultra-conformist kind of congregation with a lot members doing the double-life thing, especially the younger ones. I'm not saying the double life thing is a bad thing, either. I just don't understand how these ones can stomach the meetings and then go back to their everyday lives.
My congo is so bad that it has people from neighboring congregations looking down on ours and calling it a "bad congregation." LOL That is like a bunch of dogs all refusing to smell a particular dog's crotch. "We're all disgusting, eat-our-own-vomit dogs, but see that dog over there? Now HE's gross!" (Use of illustration: 2 points)
But, doctrinal and organizational issues aside, how did/does your congregation compare to the others around? For example, mine drives people way. In contrast, the one I go to in a blue moon with some friends in another city is one of the "cool" congregations where the majority of people there seem to be well-balanced and much more tolerant. A couple elders there seem to take the WT directives with a grain of salt. People try to mind their own business there. Obviously, they are the exception to the rule.
my loyal-dub wife had a wonderful morning knocking on empty homes earlier this week.
last night she confided in me with an observation.
she has noticed what she perceives to be a "pioneer clique" in our congregation.
In our congregation there were a couple of pioneers who quit for a while for personal reasons and later went back to being a pioneer. They were not fully accepted back into the clique for a while, if ever. Both moved to other congregations.
Anyone hear about the Pioneers Assist Others program that was started a few years back? It didn't go over so well in our congregation due to lack of interest from the R & F and due to lack of pioneers. We only had 2 or 3 full time pioneers and maybe 1 auxilliary pioneer (aux. pioneer every month for the year). That kind of putting pioneers on a pedestal thing just adds to the clique-i-ness of it all.
study edition of the wt will be restricted - it will be as per km
Of course, this all brings to mind a very important question:
Will Blondie still be able to get a copy of the study WT?
"buying a boat"
lol
Now that is funny!
i had my jc about a month ago now and thanks to my dad i keep thinking "shoul i have appealed?
" has anyone ever heard of a decision being reversed because of an appeal?
do very many people appeal?
BB
Incidentally, if you join the military or a church , you just get announced as d/a...but join the "Y" and they hold a committee...strange isn't it? I bet there are a fair few dubs who dont know that it is a d/f offence
I didn't know that...I was thinking about joining the Y, too. Like was mentioned before about the UN NGO thingie, what a bunch of hypocrites!
I would mention that in the appeal letter about the double standard, btw. What have you to lose?
a father was walking past his son's bedroom and saw, to his surprise, that the room was tidy and the bed made.
then he noticed an envelope propped up on the pillow with the word 'dad' on the outside.
with a trembling hand he opened the envelope and read the enclosed letter: .
Ha ha...I ought to try that with the wife.
at the risk of being "untheocratic", i recently set up a profile on myspace.com.
i know that there are several of you on here who are also on myspace.
i thought that it would be nice to get in contact with some of you on here who do.
Mine's set to private, so request to add me or pm on here...

it is a world where one side of the planet is bathed in perpetual daylight while the other is kept in infinite night.
here, an entire year passes in just over 48 hours and surface temperatures are hot enough to melt lead.
This planet is actually very hot (like 450 degrees F) on the dark side, too, because of the tremendous wind patterns discovered to be active on this planet. It's hard to imagine liquid water in existence on the planet...maybe vapor.
