comparing WTS with Pharisees
by erandir ini had a good discussion saturday night with my witness wife about how the society is basically a modern-day version of the pharisees and how jesus condemned them in his day and how he would condemn the society today.
does anyone have any good points or any insight into comparing the society with pharisees?
anything you have would be helpful so i could get my thoughts together and figure out a way to approach this subject with her in the future whenever it comes up..

Is the Watchtower magazine's stated circulation actually erroneous?
by Orgull ini just changed my order of magazines at the counter to the bare minimum.
me, my dad, my friends, heck everybody i know throws out a large bag of unused watchtowers and awakes every few months or at least once a year.
then it hit me.

Do you "have" to give that talk 4? You could just be a no-show. Think of it as good practice for the brothers who do the improv, moments' notice talks. That's a win-win situation!

I'm tired
by mrsjones5 ingot up at 5am, got the hubby up, we dressed and went to the surgery center (oh yeah i didn't tell ya'll that hubby was to go in for vein surgery this morning), hubby had surgery and we were out of there by 10am.
went and got some crutches for hubby, van started making funny noises and the battery light came on.
went to target to pick up some stuff for the kids, left there and car sounds worst.

They would ignore it. They only pay attention when a dub is helping another dub (or maybe a dub helping a *gasp* worldly person). Then they pat themselves on the back and write an article about it.

(actually it's one of the many things that don't make sense to me about "the truth").

nvr--That's preposterous. Don't you know we are in darkness and God has blinded our eyes? I read it in a watchtower once, so it must be true. They kept going on and on about how "well-fed" those in the "truth" were and how everyone else is starving.
Well, they got most of it right, anyway. They just had a couple details reversed.

So again my question stands. Why do animals die?
Here's how a loyal dub would respond:
Orgull, when you word it that way, the truth doesn't make sense. Therefore, in order for it to make sense, we need to change your question by changing the wording. Actually, just drop the wording about the animals entirely. That part about living souls can be left out, too. Then we are left with:
1) Humans die.
2) Death is a result of sin
There...makes perfect sense now. I don't see a problem.
...What do you mean that doesn't answer your question? You haven't been on that internet have you?

Seriously, though, anyone familiar with Occum's Razor? What's the simplest answer to this problem? From that point of view, what roles do a deity and a concept of sin have in that answer?

by drew sagan inhere is the best that i could do, but i think it gets the main points of the articles across.
i wouldn't bet my life on this translation, but i think it is good enough for our purposes.

I can see the new direction being to just read what Brooklyn prints and only underline/highlight the "answer" from the paragraph. But only underlining OR highlighting. No more underlining one set of points in yellow, another in pink, another in blue, and then underlining a fourth set of points, like some do. "Oh, and brother elders, keep an eye out for those making unnecessary use of marginal notes. Those are a sure sign of independent thinking!"
As Christians we should avoid "foolish questionings and genealogies and strife and fights over the Law" because they are useless and futile. (Tit 3:9)
Yeah...questioning the watchtower is FOOLISH. No need to argue about it, just ACCEPT it as truth and move on, you drones! Any form of independent thought, i.e. thought outside of what the watchtower tells you to think, is useless and futile.....useless and futile...that sounds so familiar.

My favorite tea is Earl Grey. My wife's favorite is Chamomile. We use the "old-fashioned" whistling tea kettle as opposed to just microwaving the water.

I still don't because I don't really care for the holiday. Mainly I don't because it's too commercial. One minor reason I think it is silly is that it is supposed to be celebrating Jesus' birthday, but it's not even in the right season for that. I will go to my parents' house for dinner that day because that's just when they all get together, but I won't celebrate with gifts or any of the commercial stuff. I have no objections for anyone who feels differently, though.
