WT study conductor looking out towards the back of the hall, "Let's hear from Sister Payne in the rear."
I thought this was true when it was told to me, but I heard a "worldly" person telling it as a joke a few years later.
Bonnie/Clyde, this supposedly happened in our congregation, too, according to an elder there. I guess could happen. Many people have that last name and some of them could sit in the back from time to time.
Editted to add: Sorry, Auldsoul, I didn't read your post before I commented. You mentioned Columbus, OH, having a sister Payne. That could very well be the same sister I'm talking about. She could have visited my Ohio congregation.

Learning a new language and experiencing a new culture can make the drudgery that is the life of a JW just a little bit more bearable.
nvr, not to mention that you get to learn a new language and experience a new culture for free. No need to pay high prices at a college or spend a lot on traveling. Well, I shouldn't say free, of course. There are still the meetings to attend (although fun at first) and the field service to go out in. But free, as in no money spent.

After watching the Alton Brown "Good Eats" episode on tea, I've been turned on to loose leaf tea. Wow...what a difference between that and tea bags.
I love Earl Grey, Chamomile, Black Pekoe, Orange Pekoe. Don't like green much at all.

Suicide
by Nicolas ini know it's a touchy subject, but anyone here has ever thought of suicide while they were still in the organization?
it seem to me that jehovah's witnesses have a much higher rate of suicide than the rest of the population.
i contemplated suicide myself when i was struggling to get piece of my life back together after being raised as a "perfect little jw" when i was young.

tijkmo, what a heartless thing for an elder to say!
'well other people seem to manage'
Jerk! So much for living up to their own WT message of not comparing one person with another in matters of spiritual progress. Hypocrites!

This is why depressed people seldom get over the tendency to depression even when outside situations improve.
Gopher, here's some anecdotal evidence for you.
I suffered from depression while I was an active dub. Suicidal, taking-medication, seeing-the-doctor depression.
I'm not an active dub and am putting that stuff behind me. I'm not depressed anymore.
My outside situations improved. I'm no longer depressed.

Stick with the bible-themed costume. That way you can better explain to the police that you weren't trying to incite panic but just distrupting a religious meeting. They would probably be more lenient toward you. If you wear the Scream-type costume, your intentions wouldn't be so easy to prove.
Oh...and wait till you get the right combination of stage "guards." Too many younger brothers would get to you quicker than if they were all 60 and over.
Also, wait till after lunch. People will be sleepier and not as quick to respond. Every last second you can squeeze out of this stunt is valuable.
Last, but not least, be sure to PM me with a link to the YouTube video.

I'd like to see Hilary Clinton as the next president, just because it will pi$$ everyone off if she wins. I like a good joke, and that one would last at least 4 years.
