EMPTY KINGDOM HALL

i have heard from my father (who is an elder about 50 years old) that there is a great seperating work going on within the org.

he said that almost all of the people my age 25 to 35 have quit going to our hall (about 20 people).

i have not been to a meeting in about 1 year.

Well, I hope to add to the statistics because I am not going back. What got me thinking was the Watchtower's NGO status in the UN. The hypocrisy is organization-wide. I got to experience the true colors of some elders and some "brothers" (elders and ministerial servants) that I worked with in a brother-owned business at that time. There was a falling away of a number of young people from our congregation at the time, too. All those things and more combined, and I decided I'd had enough. I felt I was duped and that I had made a grossly uninformed decision to become a JW years ago.

To any lurker who may be studying to be a JW or maybe interested in becoming one, take a good long look past all the love-bombing and do lots of research before you make that decision to get baptized.

Attendance at my KH is down, and one of the elders I had issues with has been deleted as an elder. To that I say in Montgomery Burns fashion: "Excellent!"

If you don't hear about "the Kingdom" you won't be destroyed so why preach?

witnesses believe in these last days, if you never spoke to a witness or heard about the kingdom, jehovah will not destroy you...you will have a second chance in the new system to study.

so why bother preaching at all....there will be time in "paradise.

" is this correct?

My first convention

i went to the district convention in san diego.

i got to see first hand the good, the bad, and the ugly of what transpires at a convention.

the worst fears of what i was warned about never materialized.

WTBS - The world's most prolific publisher of eisegesis material. May they reap the penalties of Revelation 18-19!! (I wonder how they interpret those verses)

I just have to say--and i'm not intending to defend the Watchtower's spin on religion nor any other for that matter--Why do people think that this verse applies to the whole bible? It is in the book of Revelations and is intended to apply to the book of Revelations only. Just because it is at the end of the bible, it is not a footnote or epilogue saying that if you add or take away from the words of the bible, you'll be screwed. It is saying if you add or take away the words of this book, referring to the book of Revelations, you'll be screwed. When John wrote the book of Revelations, it wasn't part of what we know today as the bible. It was canonized later. Therefore, he wrote that verse to apply to what he had written and not to the entire collection of books and letters that make up our modern day bible. I have felt the need to clarify this whenever it comes up ever since my mother tried teaching me the erroneous interpretation when I was a child.

Some people take this stuff too seriously, so in advance, I do not mean to offend or upset anyone who may think I'm being irreverent here, but I argue the above point with the same level of interest that I would argue a point of controversy in a work of fiction like those of The Lord of the Rings or Star Wars. If anyone wants to believe another interpretation differing from mine, that is their right.

Perhaps I shall start a thread about this later.

Has there ever been a LTR about No-College?

so far we have heard that these anti-college 'rules' have been given verbally.. i doubt the wts would be stupid enough to put into writing now, but have they in the past?.

this year dc..online porn...next year....online classes....lol.

wow...so what about those who are elders/servants who have attended college as witnesses? I suppose they will be grandfathered out. This is just crazy. So they want the congregations to be shepherded by ignorant yes-men?

How Were You Treated as a Jehovah's Witness if You Had Depression ?

most of us who were in the jehovah's witnesses for some time realize that for years the watchtower society had always discouraged it's rank and file members from going to see therapists, or professional counselors if they had depression, or serious chemical depression.

the watchtower society always told us to go out in service more, do more personal study, be more regular at meetings - and essentially we would lose our depression , and everything would fall right back into place.

the old, " don't worry, be happy " cliche.

it says in the 2005 un accreditation form "in 2002 we instituted the review process for ngos associated with dpi".

now on the un website it says "resolution e/1996/31 adopted in july 1996 to replace resolution 1296 of may 1968 rules the current arrangements for consultation with non-governmental organizations.

If the UN is the beast, according to the Watchtower's interpretation of Revelations, then why join up with it in any way, shape, or form, for whatever benefit? As I understand it according to what I was taught while still an active witness, that is the same as receiving the mark of the beast. This was the catalyst in my fading from the WTBTS. They are hypocrits, and it isn't just at a local congregational level. It is systemic.

After fading, can you get away with DF'able sins?

i ask this because a person i know who had a rather short fade.

is now living a... lets just say a distinctly worldly life, and.

the elders are simply looking the other way.

conduct should be made for congregation file so
that everythmg noted might be clarified when the
person shows intrest in becoming active again.
