For you "sisters" who married in the "Truth"...

just a poll question.

at the first convention/ assembly following your wedding ... did you parade around the convention site gloating in other sisters' faces, showing off your new husband?

i've never done it, but i can't help but suspect that others do.

Looking back over the years i was so glad i never married a JW !!

I have wondered what my life may have been like would have stayed ?

There were a few guys that i did have a crush on and even one of them was a guy who my cousin had previously been engaged with some time before his mum loved me heaps and really wanted me to be her daughter in law.

I often wonder what happened to all the very young ones that got married, i did see some of them a few years ago they were still married but did not look like anything like i remembered. Back then they were the most popular pretty and handsome people that i ever knew but now they have ' let themselves go'.

I am glad that i never married a JW life is complicated enough

I'm confused- Does it mean that I stumble someone if I drink Coffee?

i was reading the post from truth seeker on the april 15 wt.

i went a little farther in the article and noticed the q& a indicating that some in the congregation may choose to abstain from cafeine.. this kind of reminds me of the hotdog incident, back in the 60's when we wouldn't be allowed to eat a hotdog because it offended some brothers and sisters with weaker consciences (they believed that hot dog weiners had blood in them).

so we became closet hotdog eaters for awhile.

I never have drunk coffee its just a thing i don't do i don't like the taste off it and i often get wierd looks 'You don't drink coffee'.

Also i no longer don't drink tea either, that was a pregnancy thing.

So i get even wierder looks no tea or coffee.

This BTW is just a personal preference.

By all means everyone is different, and im sure you won't stumble anyone if you drink coffee

Would U Be Offended If A Lesbian Couple Showed Affection in A Public Place

in missouri at a ihop, a lesbian kissed another female (her gf) on the cheek, once while sitting in the restaurant.

the manager went over to the ladies and told them they were not welcomed there and therefore had to leave.

the women described the kiss on the cheek as a similar type of kiss to an "uncle".

Wouldn't offend me in the least bit.

I don't get offended when a man and women kiss in public.

People shouldn't worry so much about what someone else is doing!

As long as its nothing to much that can get saved for later but just a peck no problem.

Do you believe you have a particular purpose in life?

i ask this because as a jw, you are programmed to think your only purpose is to preach the good news of the kingdom....period.

but more and more, i've noticed in my own life a strong pull toward something i won't elaborate on, but it has me thinking that maybe we really do each have a particular purpose and it's up to us to discover what it is.

i know i'm kind of new to the forum, but please let me know if any of you have experienced this same kind of unusually strong pull toward something you can't fully explain.

Over the years i have had many serious relationships and one of my last i could never understand my purpose of it all it was great but just not right.

But later after we had split and he moved on with another girl i realised that i was preparing him for a full on relationship as he never wanted to move in with me or have any kids now a few years later he is married kids and a house so go figure.

So my purpose in life now is just to be me and take care of my own family.

Fading Music

if there was only one cd you could choose that helped you through the time you were fading from one set of choices to another, which one would it be?

just one now.. mine would be cheryl crow-wildflower.

of course there were others, but i limited this to just one.there are several songs on there that helped me express my feelings.. then, i also relistened to all my old music.

It wasn't the fading music but just over the last few years i have found a few songs that had made me think this is how i am feeling about all the hurt that had happened and that sometimes think this has been a life saver.

More so when things are not going right i have to listen to it all it just makes it more bareable.

I found a band called Drowning Pool (BTW this is what i am listening to at this very second) and everything just clicked on how i felt and am feeling.

But really anything by Metallica, Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Staind helps as well.

Has anyone or know of anyone that has had a TOF?

when i was born i had a tof (trachea oesophageal fistula laymans terms the oesophagus doesn't join to the stomache and needs to be rejoined commonly it attaches to the lung.

) done when i was 12 hours old.. just wondering if anyone else out there ever had one or know of a family member or a friend that had the same condition.. i was thinking about starting up a network of people with this condition as it is only in recent years that those who survived at my age now are becoming parents and was hoping to get some feedback about any fears you may have had or any other complications that you may have had since having this done.. i have been lucky with no complication since i was born though i do still get the tof cough, and i also have 2 very healthy children.. i suppose this is why i stayed with the jw as i always thought it was a miracle that i was saved and that all the cong had prayed for me to get better.

but then i thought later in life that it was the doctors that saved me not the jw and that they didn't really even help my parents in this distraught time.. you can email me at [email protected].

My boyfriend is a JW and we want to get married but I want him to get OUT

i'm am so heart broken to see my boyfriend with so many internal strugles.

he is a good man, a good god fearing man and this is why it has been so difficult for him to leave the jw's religion.

we love each other so much and we want to be married but he fears the consequences of marring somebody who is not a jw.

I married an unbeliever many many years ago when i was still a very active JW, yes i was counseled by the elders about having an unbelieving partner and how hard it will be and that by the scriptures that you shouldn't be unevenly yolked and all that goes with it. He supported me in what ever way and it was great he let me do what i felt within the JW and i eventually left on my own free will and have felt so much better for it. We decided that when we have children that they were not going to be brought up as JW but will know about them and when they were old enough to decide which religion they chose was fine with us. We also celebrate all holidays. It will be a hard long struggle if he is truely into the JW. All i can suggest is for you to just be supportive in what he does as in time he will decide what he wants to do. Have a deep and meaningful talk with him and find out what he wants over the next 5 years and does this fit in your plan as well talk about the future what about children how will you both bring them up, will they celebrate the holidays or will he be a bystander and let you and the kids celebrate?
