  Is Confession Actually A Bad Thing To Do?

  when i make mistakes ( i do, i do!

  ) or do something really bad, the last thing i think about is confessing to it.. i apologise where appropriate, try to learn from the experience and generally file away the event so's to maybe profit by the experience.

  sometimes i even feel remorse!.

  No no, that's a witness conditioned response. It's like saying if you know what I'm really like you won't want me. You're in effect replacing the org with your boyfriend. In other words, the need to be 100% pure and clean in order to survive armageddon etc is still there but because the org is no longer there to give you it's OK, your sublimating it's judgementalism and passing it on to your boyfriend. If you can't confess you can't feel good is quite a problem for many ex's.

  Shark Attack

  my fellow skittlers, those of the mighty and most feared team "the wanderers", now call me "shark attack".. this harps back to just after i'd come out of hospital and proudly displayed my scars to enyone whom i could get to take a peek.

  now, if i happen to score a spare, my team jump up and down and shout "shark attack, shark attack!

  Yes it is very popular, particularly in the West of England. There's men's teams, womens teams and mixed teams, all who play in different leagues according to the teams performance.

  Also the style of play varies enormously. Some folk roll the balll so slowly it barely gets to the end of the alley. Others throw it so hard it ricochets of the back wall and causes mayhem. Some people bounce the ball along the alley hoping to hit the middle pin on the downward flight of the ball.

  No skittler can play properly unless he and the team have imbibed copious quantities of ale during the game. Irt's almost impossible to play well when sober.

  So what I don't undersatnd is why it is that a JW's first action after committing a sin is the requirement to go to an elder or 3 and confess to it. I mean, what a waste of time! To confess to something as a first reaction does nothing to profit anyone IMHO. In fact, it can even negate useful remorse, that period of discomfort we get when we've done something bad. That period of remorse that ultimately teaches us something about ourselves, be it for us to do something we have neglected or to avoid a course of action in the future.

  So I would suggest that confession is actually a bad thing to do. If we confess we learn nothing. All we've done is diluted the niggles we get when we err. Those niggles that will be short-lived if we learn by our mistakes.

  Just to show the difference between skittles and 10 pin bowling: Skittles has 9 pins that are re-erected by a sticker-up who gets paid £10 for a 3 hour game. Plus the ball has no thumb-hole. Each player makes 6 visits of 3 balls each visit.

Now, if I happen to score a spare, my team jump up and down and shout "Shark attack, shark attack!" very loudly. I am then required to lift up my sweater whilst on the alley and oscillate backwards and forwards as I do my party piece, the famous and legendary Hooper Pelvic Thrust.

  This happened again a couple of weeks back. The team were shouting the shark attack thing and I obediently lifted up my sweater eagerly anticipating the recoil from the opposing side. Well, it stunned them into silence as they gazed with horror upon my displayed splendid patchwork quilt. Then one old boy, quitely raised his eyes, looked at me fair and square and said:

  "Had a Caesarian, have you?"

  i heard this as a child and thought to myself, how can any woman accept such a draconian veiw?

  i was not sure if i had understood correctly so, i brought it up to my bible study conductor maggie, i was appalled that she agreed with this veiw, we debated it back and forth, until i got the upper hand, then she told me that i was to "rebellious and strong willed", and that i "should never get married", that i way i would not have to submit to male "headshit" "headship".

  She shows lowliness of mind by not trying to dominate her husband, even when she has superior abilities in certain areas.

  What a hoot! What a laugh! If it hadn't been for my Everlovin's superior abilities we would have been down the pan when I lost almost 5 months of work last year 'cos of me op.

  Instead, she brought the lolly home, and while things were bloody tight for a while, we survived.
